Why must that dysfunctional conference drag their feet on EVERYTHING!! :mindblown:

Sometimes I think they should just dissolve already...Too many programs want to throw their weight around.
That's what Texas and OU wants to happen. They just don't want to be the first programs to actually start dissolving it. But both fanbases really want out of this conference.

Tom Herman is in line for a massive salary bonus if Houston joins the Big 12

If they do join, you think Herman stays?

Here are the details, via SI:

These days, Houston hands Herman $3 million per year, and he's in line for a $2.5 million raise in each of the first two seasons Houston plays in a Power 5 conference. To school officials and fans, such an invitation would not be a leap up but a return to previous status.

While the phrasing is a tiny bit misleading, here is what you need to know: If the Cougars join the Big 12, Herman is about to get PAID. He'd go from his $3 million annual salary now, to $5.5 million over the next two years, a number which would put him in line with some of college football's highest paid head coaches.

Here's how that number would stack up based on last year's USA Today coaching database. That $5.5 million would put him at No. 4 overall, behind only Saban, Harbaugh, Urban Meyer and just ahead of Bob Stoops, the man Herman beat on Saturday.
The chances of him staying at UH does increase if they land in the Big 12 indeed. The problem is that most of the Big 12 doesn't want UH in and that includes OU. Texas won't mind it for other reasons. Such as building a school in Houston and other political reasons. But five Texas schools in the conference? They are trying to get away from the SWC.

Bigger isn't always better. Unless you are BUILT for that shyt like saban, or are BELOVED ALUMNI, like harbaugh, those big jobs will get you rich-rod'ed just for a hiccup on the plan.

Some times its better to win 9-11 a year at a smaller school and be god status than to win 7 games or 9 games as be on the hot seat every year.
I'm choosing the frank beamer/kirk Ferentz route every single time

Oh i know that but the seat is just too hot for a black man....Saban would get at least 5 yrs to get " his players" in place ...they been callin for his head from jump
While true, he has been trash breh. After year 1, he promised they would never be that bad again and then went 5-7 and missed a bowl

I'd rather be Chris Peterson or even Jim Mora than Strong

So who gets a job first? Charlie or Les Miles?

Les or Tom Herman will get the Texas job.
:what: What makes y'all think Texas would even consider Les Miles? Les Miles just got fired because of the offensive & QB issues he has had all these years at LSU. Knowing that Texas has had the same issues since they last went to the BCS title game back in 2009, it should be obvious that Les Miles is not under consideration.

Texas should really go after Chris Peterson from Washington.
:lupe: I've been wanting Chris Peterson at Texas since the 2011 season. But if Strong gets fired after this season, I'd prefer Tom Herman because of familiarity with coaches on his Herman's coaching staff & Tom Herman's offense guarantees we will have more Black QBs.

meh, Charlie strong HAD to take that job. He got 5 million dolars a year for now 3 years. You can't pass that up to stay at Louisville.

Y'all aint mad at Charlie Weiss for stealing money for a decade.

Texas has a ton of talent, but this wacky conference negates any good defensive coach and most players.

Really? :usure: both of them would be food or middling anywhere else except the PAC12 if talking we're Power5. :usure:

they need the BIG12 just as much as the BIG12 needs them. Well, texas can go indy, but they're still rebuilding so it's all money grab shyt.
