Houston isn't getting in the Big 12. In fact, nobody will.

I see nothing on Orangebloods or Inside Texas or even 247 that Strong is out at the end of the season. Why send out that report now? Just do it and get somebody to be the interim HC anyway? If he beats OU and they proceed to get 5 to 6 more wins, I don't see how you fire him with a 9-3 or 8-4 record. Though 8-4 is still not acceptable to Texas but it's better then the last two years and would be seen as progress. If he finishes 6-6, yeah, he's outta there.
Tom Herman is in line for a massive salary bonus if Houston joins the Big 12

If they do join, you think Herman stays?

Here are the details, via SI:

These days, Houston hands Herman $3 million per year, and he's in line for a $2.5 million raise in each of the first two seasons Houston plays in a Power 5 conference. To school officials and fans, such an invitation would not be a leap up but a return to previous status.

While the phrasing is a tiny bit misleading, here is what you need to know: If the Cougars join the Big 12, Herman is about to get PAID. He'd go from his $3 million annual salary now, to $5.5 million over the next two years, a number which would put him in line with some of college football's highest paid head coaches.

Here's how that number would stack up based on last year's USA Today coaching database. That $5.5 million would put him at No. 4 overall, behind only Saban, Harbaugh, Urban Meyer and just ahead of Bob Stoops, the man Herman beat on Saturday.

He should have never took that job tho like someone said already...he been on the chopping block since day one cause Texas is a entitled place who feel they should be in the conversation for the title every year and they have DEEP pockets...but they've only won less than a handful of national titles in their entire existence...plus he did himself no favors kicking so many big time recruits off the team
You don't turn down Texas for Louisville

Why must that dysfunctional conference drag their feet on EVERYTHING!! :mindblown:

Sometimes I think they should just dissolve already...Too many programs want to throw their weight around.

My guess is that yeah...if Houston gets into the Big 12...Herman's salary jumps to 5.5M...which means Texas or any other school would probably have to offer him like 7 or 8 million.
Unless he leaves because he thinks Houston's program isn't big enough.

shyt says a 2.5 mil raise each of the first 2 seasons. That would put him at 8mil at Houston

If I'm Texas, the first call I make is to Saban. Give him a blank check and have him tell us no.

Then you can turn to Herman, Miles, etc

They already did that and Bama gave him more money :russ:

For real, this "Saban to ____" is reaching Jon Gruden status

Not if he runs the table or even can get 9 regular season wins.

This is really a play for Herman. Hope Houston gets into the Big 12 and he tells em all to eat a dikk.

Texas controls the big 12, they ain't letting them in if Herman gives the fukk you.

Bigger isn't always better. Unless you are BUILT for that shyt like saban, or are BELOVED ALUMNI, like harbaugh, those big jobs will get you rich-rod'ed just for a hiccup on the plan.
