Interesting, you're the first black person I've heard say Austin has more soul than Dallas. Can you elaborate?

Austin has green space, it has a younger vibe. A very active city where people run, hike, do bjj etc. You have...I mean HAD a vibrant music scene. Unfortunately a lot of that is dwindling but go to East Austin and you'll see eclectic people, hipsters, dive bars, etc there.

Maybe this is my own experience of Dallas but the city is pretty grey, a concrete jungle. It's pretty economically (and racially) segregated and you have 30k millionaires there trying to signal high status. It just appears vapid and inauthentic. I hate that there's no trees and the city isn't "pretty" It just seems like a place people go to work and drive to suburbs like Frisco or something

Absolutely, Sacramento hasn't lost Black population in a decennial Census in like 50 years. '23 annual estimates suggest there's a decline so far this decade, but again no official Census has recorded that in a lifetime. This is Black Sac's Golden Era, it's the best time in history to be Black in Sacramento!

I visited Raleigh in 2006 and said the same thing…. As an Alabama nikka, Raleigh gave me that 80s ATL vibe. shyt just felt right…. Had 2 cousins working for IBM/Lenovo at the time(in Charlotte)
and tried to move there until life took another turn… I hope it has the same vibe. It I’m sure gentrification has played a role in eradicating the soul of the city that i experienced years ago

Bruh I love it here, been here 5½ years now. There definitely has been stupid gentrification to Black neighborhoods on the Southside, which is the South Central of Raleigh, in terms of being the center of black culture here. Bit there are so many of us here and black people here are so progressive, intelligent, hustlers. Such a great energy here compared to 99% of America for blacks, more mf's are catching on...

Yeah i lived in the Mid Atlantic in the early 2000s. Actually loved Virginia (beautiful state) and DC.

I couldn't live in NYC due to cost and pollution but I feel the city has my type of people i.e diversity of thought, overall diversity etc. A lot of California feels very myopic culturally, politically and socially, though I find much of the west coast beautiful.

As far as the south I enjoy Atlanta as a city, Houston is cool but lots of scammers, humid and pollution. I hope people don't 'discover' north Carolina.

I live in the California-lite city of Texas but I think I much prefer somewhere with more seasons and more diverse people.
