Yeah i lived in the Mid Atlantic in the early 2000s. Actually loved Virginia (beautiful state) and DC.

I couldn't live in NYC due to cost and pollution but I feel the city has my type of people i.e diversity of thought, overall diversity etc. A lot of California feels very myopic culturally, politically and socially, though I find much of the west coast beautiful.

As far as the south I enjoy Atlanta as a city, Houston is cool but lots of scammers, humid and pollution. I hope people don't 'discover' north Carolina.

I live in the California-lite city of Texas but I think I much prefer somewhere with more seasons and more diverse people.

Last time i went to SF it was disgusting. Smelled like shyt, homeless people literally everywhere, smelly ass white people and stuck up Asians. I know the coli's collective brain is wired to think "Every single city in cali is the absolute greatest" but naw. Yall can have that shyt. I had more fun in DC than San Fran

Miami isnt even a fraction of the cost of living as san Francisco not even 1/3rd. Its not just rent, its the ubers, doordash, parking, cost of food, gas. Its not even comparable.

People think I'm a hater because I tend to hate most California cities you can add Portland and Seattle to West Coast cities lol. I did like San Diego though and the Socal Coastline but I tend to like nature and I'll visit LA (have many times for work) but much prefer the daily life of the South.

What I was trying to express in that post is it's worst places than San Fran that could be dubbed "America's Armpit" imo.

If San Fran is the worst he seen then he hasn't explored enough not that he hasn't got the ability to travel anywhere at anytime he wants. It's more to this country than the normal NBA team city travel routes.

I'm in Austin because I work in tech. Houston is dope but because I'm comparing it to Atlanta and it's similarities. Charlotte/Raleigh I agree with you and sort of jealous.

Austin is sort of at times too annoying due to lack of Black culture (suburbs are different) but I'm clicked into the community here. Also I sort of get annoyed with the performative liberalism of white people here. They will say BLM but gentrify half the city where Black folks are and they will sign propositions for a dog shelter but not for a homeless shelter for people.

Dallas is a business first city. No one really "hangs out" downtown. I don't think it's has much of a soul compared to say Austin or Houston but it's worth a visit or a weekend to travel to. I feel the city landscape leaves much to be desired.

California is the GOAT state. It's basically like if you had New York (Los Angeles), DC/Baltimore area (The Bay), Tampa Bay (San Diego Bay), Pittsburgh (Sacramento), Richmond and Hampton Roads (Fresno and Bakersfield)----->all in one state...

It's like having all these cities and surrounding areas in one state...

But SF has long marginalized it's black community and is one of the worst major cities for black people in America. I'm really trying to think of somewhere I've been, that I'd take SF over. I'd probably take SF over Boston, just for the fact I don't think I could put up with Boston winters, and Boston is also a place that the people aren't the most endearing. But it would be close...

If you're black, Sacramento has been better than San Francisco since at least 2010, Sacramento has been better than Oakland since 2015. If you're black and looking at NorCal, Sacramento is the way...

I visited Raleigh in 2006 and said the same thing…. As an Alabama nikka, Raleigh gave me that 80s ATL vibe. shyt just felt right…. Had 2 cousins working for IBM/Lenovo at the time(in Charlotte)
and tried to move there until life took another turn… I hope it has the same vibe, but I’m sure gentrification has played a role in eradicating the soul of the city that i experienced years ago
