I don’t think he wanted Westbrook traded. Timeline doesn’t add up. I THINK Harden has been training with Durant/kyrie and others. Him and Westbrook saw their coach AND gm let go for cheaper alternatives. I think word got out Harden would like to go to the nets and probably wasn’t keeping that extension. Russ gets the heads up snd asks for a trade first last weekend. Harden is quiet as the rockets haven’t talked to them both fully yet. The market for Russell Westbrook is absolutely trash and harden isn’t getting another star in Houston if Russ is gone. Same thing happened to Oladipo who they said was telling other teams he wanted to joint them. No other team wants to trade for him and suddenly he’s buddy buddy with Indiana even though he wants a new deal and they not giving him the money he wants. Russ has even less trade value and the rockets likely only getting a salary dump and MAYBE a pick for him but not a lotto pick. Finally they talk to harden and he tells them point blank he not signing an extension and he wants to go to Philly or nwts. Houston is being cheap as fukk with their broke ass owner and harden doesn’t want to be stuck as the highest paid player on a team with nothing full of guys who rather go play for legit contenders or go get paid themselves. PJ tucker wants more money, Russ wants to be the man in another market (probably knicks or Charlotte with MJ) Rivers is gone, Robert Covington already gone, and boom.

The short version is there was nothing wrong with the Houston culture and Harden did his damn thing in htown for 8 years but just couldn't get it done in the playoffs, and even then came closest to beating the KD GSWs, and took a post-Tmac and Yao shytty Rockets team to 2nd and 3rd round playoff runs.

The obvious culture issue is that D'Antoni and Morey walked away after a year of beefing with an owner notorious for being cheap; both guys were Harden's biggest supporters and so it's no surprise that Philly (Morey) and Brooklyn (Pringles) are his two preferred destinations. The ultimate issue tho, is that Houston's window is closed and it's basically abandon ship for all the 30+ year olds.

tatum best case is harden.... you guys said no to AD becayse soft and Injury prone

Tatum is miles ahead of where Harden was at the same age.

And the Celtics didn't trade for AD because the cost wasn't worth it for a one year rental.

Which is why you trade harden to a desired spot snd get everything you can
Sell on tucker
Get ANYTHING for Russ
And start over right now. Okc already has the blueprint in place and they have sixteen picks for the next five drafts. And they have SGA as a foundational player currently. Houston been a year removed from blowing it up anyway

The stoop with dat dope fanny padding
You’re crazy

we have Tatum and brown locked up for a long time

they are both close in age and on the same timeline

both are two way players that share the ball and play excellent defense... both will be all stars for a long time

why would I break that up for a 32 year old selfish iso player that doesn’t do anything when he doesn’t have the ball and doesn’t play defense?
