It wouldn’t be about getting 34m next year, it would be trying to see if someone will give him something comparable to 90/100m for 4 years

he's not at the age where he has to do that. I would just play for the 34m then work on a deal next year.

Yeah I’m not saying whether he should or shouldn’t but with his injury history combined with the fact that this free agent class is much weaker than next year’s. So he might be thinking he has a better chance of getting that type of deal now
