they just wont stop pushing this nikka. got damn this is the strongest push for a plant ive ever encountered
i've no problem with this. Atleast his music doesn't advocate violence and is inspirational. rap needs more than that.

how he got a fanbase with zero hits breh

now you can have a slight tour fanbase... or a good internet download for free fanbase....

but a cover of motherfukking gq fanbase... nominated for a grammy fanbase.... get the fukk out of here.. there probably aren't 10 rappers alive who got the cover of GQ and i'm supposed to believe an unsigned artist who sold zero records (literally) has the fanbase to get it :comeon:
its just connections lol.

There will always be record labels. You guys keep saying Chance will be the blueprint when he's the outlier/exception. How many people you know that have the connections he had prior to even making mixtape along with $50,000 or so to help jump start their shyt?
I'd say joey badass, bronson, technine are doing well for themselves. Joey had no connections. Social media blew him the fukk up. Of course there will be label, what I mean to say is if streaming services starts becoming labels themselves, its going to be a huge problem from for Sony, vivendi, universal etc.

Better to reign in Hell than serve in Heaven
He'd be penny less if the label took from that pot while he releases free abums. No label would allow him to do that. Coloring Book is still free on iTunes. There's probably millions in lost money a label missed out on for that project. It makes no sense mathematically.

:russell:

All you have to do is show us what label he's signed to. Stop with the theories and show the reciepts. It's been years now and you tin foil hat people haven't been able to show who he's supposedly signed to.
i NEVER said he was signed to a label...

he IS signed to CAA... he has said so... CAA has said so.. they can write up a contract the same as universal or me and you.. as long as it's notarized and signed, it's still the same

again... never said they taking ALL his money.. you ever hear of a 360 deal? they could simply take 30% of all of those and make more money than if they pushed him to a label, the label takes the 30% and they get 10% being an agent

or do you think CAA is out here working for free?

It would be blind, though, to overlook how Chance has avoided signing in part by working with a strong behind-the-scenes team. His longtime manager, Pat Corcoran, a former promoter and blogger in the Chicago scene, hasn’t responded to Pitchfork’s requests for comment, which is not all that surprising—Chance’s brand puts the music, not the business strategy, first. At least as of Acid Rap, Chance’s team included Creative Artists Agency’s Cara Lewis, whose other clients at the time were the likes of West and Eminem; Lewis recently launched her own CL Group (she didn’t respond to an email seeking comment). Another Chance team member from the Acid Rap era was publicist Dan Weiner, who also worked with Childish Gambino—who took Chance on tour in May 2012 and featured him on his Royalty mixtape. So while it’s possible for an unsigned artist to reach Chance-like heights, it probably can’t hurt to impress a big booking agent or publicist while you’re at it.

you think he got that big of a team of MAJOR fukking industry insiders working for diamond selling artists, but they just doing it off the humble?

funny how not a single member of his team wants to speak to the media and answer any questions about how this is all happening though right?

And you signed with CAA, right?
Yeah, Cara Lewis, who’s amazing. She’s Kanye’s agent for eight years, Eminem’s agent forever. I got turned on her the same way, through my guy Dan, and she’s working out some super dope stuff. I’m excited for all the shyt that’s coming. We wanna do Warped Tour. Movies. Everything. CAA is definitely the place to be, just in that the agency focuses on so many other aspects of entertainment. It’s a dope place for me because I love music and I’m an artist first, but I definitely want to venture off eventually.

yea breh... the team who got em and ye went and signed an unknown rapper from chicago before acid rap blew up

and don't get me wrong... IF YOU GOT THE CONNECTIONS AND THE POWER.... USE IT!!!!!

but i'm also not a dummy, believing it's just good music and organic following that got him here

Cara Lewis. Probably the most powerful woman in the industry. If she co-signs you, then you're basically set.
Oh I see, never heard of her. Thanks for the info y'all.

Joey one of my favorite new artist and being from BK I was glad to see his rise to where he is now and he only getting higher and higher. Rest In peace Capital Steez and shout out to the rest of PE too though they are slept on.

then why is none of it translating to fans? why isn't he headlining his own tours? where's his hits? where's his charting songs that he's the main artist?
He's got a massive loyal fanbase, he was on tour last year, but had to cancel, sold out too. lol at hits, he doesn't aim to make hits, just great feel good music.
