:ufdup:That's a great point, breh.

Chance still ain't doing this "grassroots"

Dude got investors, too
But my thing is, who cares?

i haven't seen chance run around calling his movement grassroots

the same way we say mixtapes are "basically albums" yet we STILL call them mixtapes even though they have album type of time/resources invested into them

chance isn't signed to major, therefore he's "basically independent" even though he has the resources that a major artist would

lies.. featured 2 of the biggiest artists and topped out at 43

Chance the Rapper - Chart history | Billboard

It was still his song and Wayne has been washed up for years so that nikka don't cont. Neither does having 2 Chainz on a record because he misses too at times.

Your right in that he was 43 but that's almost top 40 and he is not signed so that is still accomplishment anyway. I stand corrected that I was wrong on the tracks bilboard placement though.

On another note, In hiphop and in life from what I observed it's who you know anyway whether indie or otherwise. Connections are the game of life and if you got none you won't pop. So with that being said he has big fish in his corner and has done major things but does not have a label under him. From garnering Grammy Nominations, to having Kanye believe in him and so on and so forth. Their are many so called plants that powerful people pushed that didn't work but he worked because he has talent whether you want to call him a plant or not. To me charting on billboard and things like that do not qualify how good you are. However his verse on Ultrlightbeam spoke for itself.

then why is none of it translating to fans? why isn't he headlining his own tours? where's his hits? where's his charting songs that he's the main artist?
As far as touring goes, I believe he had a successful tour last year and is headlining a few larger festivals this year.

Some of these dudes been on this board for years talking about they've never heard of him before which says more about them than it does him. I've said that for super obscure people before, I won't lie, but Chance has been nowhere near obscure in the last year and he wasn't some ghost on this board before that either.

:ohhh:So that's why this lame ass nikka is everywhere.

I got his mixtape that everybody in the media was talking about a few years ago and was like, :hhh:"this sound like some gay-ass Pharcyde" and left it alone

I swear, if you guys notice, you can see the agenda in the media.

They're pushing the lame cornball nikkaz like Chance, Drake, and Koonye, OR they're pushing effeminate Black men like that "Moonlight" shyt or "Empire" or "Star" or all the Tyler Perry shyt.

The only masculine Black men you're seeing are the straight up c00n ass gold teeth & dreads crowd who advocate destruction in our communities 90% of the time.

So, you're stuck with cornball nikkaz, gay nikkaz, or stupid thug types.

Meanwhile, White boys/Hispanics are playing the "cool" ladies man roles like Timberlake, Justin Bieber, Bruno Mars, G-Eazy. They're the ones walking Black, singing Black, and acting Black, and pulling Black women. Black people don't even act Black anymore.

These lame nikkaz be off talking about "Dragon Ball Z" while Bieber's talking about p*ssy:mjlol:

i don't think that's what i said... matter of fact i don't think anyone in this board said they never heard of him

what i said was, why isn't he HEADLINING A TOUR?

follow the context... dude is up for grammys.. dude is getting the cover of GQ... that's crossing over in astronomical amounts

yet dudes with legit #1's... multiple number 1's.. who have headlined tours.. have never once got the cover nor a grammy nod

shyt nas has never graced the cover.. snoop never has.. outkast (dre) never got one... biggie and pac never even got a cover.. jeezy

ok maybe they just started and they not young.... lets name rappers with legit #1 albums who was under 25.... wale... never... meek.. never... asap... never

all of them headlined... most of them were up for grammy's if not all... shyt some of them won

but you want me to believe chance is so popular that he gets a cover and his music is that great that he getting a grammy nod :comeon:

even tho the metrics will tell you that's far from the truth and he can't buy a hit :comeon:

i never called him shytty... i never said he not supposed to use his connections... i never said he has NO fans

what i said was, it's a slap in the face to see someone clearly getting ahead of others based on business and not actual results

Did this thread get this far with no one mentioning him showing out on SNL with the debut of "Ultralight Beam"...or the fact that he had such a stand-out performance on the introductory track of an album that A LOT of people heard...or that the Kanye connection might have an effect?

....especially with a mag like GQ.

You guys are stupid.

GQ is a fashion magazine and Chance obviously leads the cutting edge of fashion: blue jeans, white t-shirts, baseball caps...
