Mary had some power and agility when she was younger and starting out but she isnt a technically great singer

They did not play!

Artists these days get waaaaay more leeway vocally.

all facts about them directors back in the day. The director at our middle school ended many a singing career early to spare everyone embarrassment.

Chaka has to understand that her voice is distinctively unique. She’s a SANGER with a grade A voice. She could legit claim a top 15 voice of all time.

NOBODY except the Whitney Houstons, Deborah Coxs, etc is out singing Chaka Khan or doing justice to her songs.

That's the thing, though. A lot of unique talents, not just in music, but in general, struggle with relating to average or even just really good talents. In their mind, of they can do it, everyone can do it. They legit don't get that they've actually got something that almost everyone else just doesn't.
