I love me some Chaka Yvette Khan. Her voice is like a trumpet. She is the undisputed queen of funk but she is also the undisputed queen of hit or miss vocal performances. Chaka has a big reputation for coming to her concerts high as a Georgia pine and not being able to finish majority of the show. When she's on she's on When she's off she's OFF. Stephanie Mills had to carry Chaka during their versus battle because in typical Chaka fashion she was higher than coota brown. Same thing happened when she was singing "Ain't nobody's business" with B.B. King, Etta James and Gladys Knight. Chaka will forget the lyrics and make her background singers sing the rest of the set. Helen Baylor and Cheryl Pepsi Riley would literally have to sing 75 percent of the songs because Chaka would stop mid song to light her joint Lmao. Mary and Mariah are alot like Chaka. When they are on they are on and when they are off they are off.
