Finances need to be talked about before marriage like many other things...Being broke is a strain on one person imagine a couple. Money affects everything. A lot of people aren't honest about how they manage money, if at all. People can always seem to be doing well but barely making it. I am not looking to "come up" off a guy. I want to have enough money to be able to live comfortable by myself and him the same.

Women, in my experience, are incapable of direct honesty.
They let their rage or insecurity prevent them from saying real un-sugarcoated shyt. They have to run away and calm down and think about how they want to phrase things. Or they ignore you altogether under the pretense of space.

yeah i think a lot of that is our nature (or "nurture" ?) in trying not to hurt peoples feelings sometimes hence the sugarcoating and avoiding. which in the end does more harm than good.

Actually, I think this happens to all races of women. There are a lot of white women (I've known a few) who stuck with broke flashy guys as well. However, I don't feel like these women get tricked. They are very aware that he is broke and does not have anything else to offer, but dikk. They go ahead and marry him because they are enthralled with him. After awhile they realize sexy don't pay no bills or equal happiness. This same thing happens to men as well.

You're an adult. Say what you feel.
If you have a relationship with someone...regardless of what level it's on...that is real, you shouldn't be afraid that what you might say will immediately cause them to throw you to the bushes.

What does that have to do with anything. Just because you on top of the world today don't mean you will remain there. Plenty of people went from the penthouse to the shyt house.
