Ok man, that's what's up. I haven't had much experience with an EQ like that but anything to make the system sound better is always good to me.

Son, why do you keep wanting to buy junk?

A boss amp? Old clarion EQ? Kicker subs in a prefab box?

Brethren the eq allows me to set the crossovers manually. Boston amp was just an idea. I already own kickers and want to replace them. What's the big deal?

That Clarion unit does 3 things.
1. lets you adjust 7 bands of EQ
2. boost preout voltage. This would be worthwhile if you were using old amps, but most are fine with 2 volts of preout voltage
3. Subwoofer/fade control

Not 100% useless, but most definitely not needed here. Your BT955HD has those features already along with time alignment.

Good thing the boss amp was just an idea. Some of the worst stuff on the market to be honest. The kicker comp box you planned on buying would be a complete waste of money & would sound like crap. Those prefab kicker boxes are tuned high as shyt(45-47hz), so it'll just be a one note wonder.

You have 2 worthwhile options for subs.

1. Infinite baffle(my first suggestion). This allows you to use larger subs which is better for SPL & SQ, you retain your trunk space, power requirement is super low(IE. A pair of 15's with 400-600 watts would be louder than your average sealed pr pre-fab ported10's and 12's with thousands of watts), Rattles are 99% non-existent.

2. A ported box with either 2 10s, 12's, or 1 15. Ported is good cus it does everything IB and sealed can do, plus more. The downside here is "good" ported boxes are not cheap. If you can buy it on a website or ebay, it's not a good box, it's a prefab. I'm speaking of a complete custom design and build which is needed if you're going ported. You will lose your trunk space if going with larger subs & weight will become an issue.

Goes back to my suggestion of you going Infinite baffle. It's a no brainer here.

If you noticed, looking at these examples..everyone uses large subs and keeps their trunk space. Best of both worlds.

Moving on to actual subs.

The best "bang for buck" IB drives are

1. Boston G2. You can get 2 15's for <$130 on ebay.
2. JBL GTO. $160 for 2 15's on ebay
3. Dayton IB 15. $130 each on parts-express.com
4. Pyle Blue Wave. $140 for 2 15's on parts-express.com
5. Alpine Type S. $110-120 each on ebay

Equalizer lets you be a lot more hands on with your adjustments. Also, where are they getting those enclosures?

Oh, I know.

What I'm saying is, your kenwood unit already has 8 bands of EQ. If you need more adjustment, a full blown DSP would be worthwhile to look into in the future.

Those aren't enclosures..They're just baffles bolted behind the rear seat. What you would do is make a template with card board, then hit up some place like home depot and have them make that template out of MDF

I forgot to ask:

Are you doing any sound deadening?

DSP? My new kenwood is a motherfukker to adjust. I adjusted it and readjusted it and im still not getting teh sound I want. Would rather get an equalizer.

EQ can only do so much

What kind of sound signature are you looking for?

They put my amps in this impossible to reach spot. I woulda did it myself long ago

Don't go back there, lol.

Go to a legit mom & pop shop, or just do the reinstall yourself. They did all the difficult work(wiring) already.

Forgot to add

Either use the clarion or the kenwood EQ

Don't use both unless they're different frequencies. You don't want to boost/cut the same frequency twice

Whenever you boost a frequency, you need to have amplifier power on tap for reserve...so it would be worthwhile to bridge that 4 channel amp upfront
