She is Team Marvel. Owned by the same company (Disney) that owns Wrinkle and Time. :sas1:

Is it ironic she singled out that movie in particular? :sas2:

What's funny is that a Wrinkle in Time hasn't cracked 100 mill domestic yet, despite an estimated budget of 100-150 mil and being in theaters for months. It's currently at 98.2 mil but Disney just added 88 more theaters for it this weekend, most likely to make a strong push for 100 million (i don't know if there are incentives for reaching that milestone). This happens the same exact week that Brie Larson makes these comments specifically about a Wrinkle in Time :jbhmm:

Maybe just pure ironic coincidence :dame:

Meanwhile Black Panther is at 699.5 mill domestic... 500k from 700milly... would make it the 3rd movie ever to achieve that... yet Disney gutted him of another 40 theaters this weekend :martin:

She's saying the exact same thing most people on this board say every time a black movie is low-balled on RT. Who cares what her motivations are, her voice on this issue may start something.
"Most"?

But she has benefited from white privilege too. :nicki:

Just ask her black actress peers. :usure:

Brie is an oscar award winning actress. On set and off set.

She is Team Marvel. Owned by the same company (Disney) that owns Wrinkle and Time. :sas1:

Black actors and actresses, directors have been vocal for years, decades. Oscars so white wasn't too long ago. :francis:

Wasn't just white men who were reaping the benefits.

White women speak up and well....:sas2:
I assume you meant coincidence not irony and I think she just chose WIT because the director is black and female.

Do persons of African descent even read reviews? I never have for any movie as an African descendant. If the movie interested me, I just go and hope for the best.

The people who hold reviews sacred are the very people they’re criticizing. Those same persons whose money they’re after. They don’t want other anglo males telling their counterparts that the movie isn’t for them. Pretty much want to sucker them into spending their money.

Guess we gotta break it all the way down

The chick running Lucasfilms fukced Star Wars all the way up.

Or: Wrinkle in Time vs Black Panther... wasn't that woman offered the BP gig? If they woulda let her do it it woulda been pretty terrible

shyt like buildings and rockets and even movies are from the male brain. That's our shyt. Meticulous, technical, precise.

This doesn't mean that zero women are capable of such, it just tends to cut in the direction of males

Are there male babysitters? Would anyone even hire a male babysitter?

It's time to stop pontificating and look at the facts, Ernie.

A Wrinkle in Time - Movie Reviews - Rotten Tomatoes

79 out 169 of critics that reviewed A Wrinkle In Time were female. That's 46%, hardly an unfair representation.

Now there is this...

A Wrinkle in Time - Movie Reviews - Rotten Tomatoes

Of the 45 recognized as 'top critics' only 10 of them are female, but 'top critic' is an arbitrary and meaningless label to begin with.

So what exactly is she insinuating? That there aren't enough women reviewing films? Because that's wrong. Is it that their opinions aren't being heard? That's wrong too.

I wonder if Brie Larsen would ever consider giving up her role as Captain Marvel so that Disney could cast a minority woman in her place. I mean white women have had it good long enough right? It's time for others to get a chance. I'm sure she would be just fine with that. :comeon:
