according to feige they wanted a male to play mar-vel but because the role was limited with very little screen time, they couldn't find any prominent actor willing to play it. So they rethink everything

I would have liked to see someone like a Tom Cruise play Mar-Vel, But he would have have needed a way bigger story Arc, and it would've changed the direction of the entire movie. I chalk it up as them not caring that much as this was just a basic origin story to insert Captain Marvel into the MCU. Her origin matters, but not really

I thought it was good. I'm not sure why the hate for it. I don't know if in the comics Captain Marvel was a man. I know the other Captain Marvel is Shazam but that's a DC thing
