Stop expecting realism from these superhero movies. Even non super powered characters perform impossible feats. Especially in the comics hell majority of the mcu characters. Aren’t as powerful as their comic book counterparts. Remember in the comics when Hawkeye killed multiple dudes with only a fingernail. Or when Bullseye knocked Daredevil out with a cardboard airplane lol. How about the many times that The Punisher bested people that should beat him.

she is sending grown men backwards with single punches.

and she punches them such that they are stunned and unable to move or forced back - which is unrealistic for a woman her size.

and she takes impacts/forces without injury which suggests increased durability.



it's borderline. left as an open question.

the MCU openly pointed out that hawkeye was "underpowered" i.e. using just "a bow and arrow" multiple times.

they never said anything similar about black widow.

widow survived an explosion which is impossible for a normal human.



she then punches a man 2 to 3 times her weight back three times, without leverage or mechanical assistance.



she supports her body weight one handed on a vehicle that is travelling at least 50 mph.



here she twists the gun out of his hands against the two handed force of the soldier



here she falls 100ft onto concrete (with 4 impacts on the way down) with no harm



here she blocks a full force attack from a guard 2 - 3 times her size with one arm

ignoring fast cuts (hollywood) and narrative license for her acts of offensive strength, there remains the issue of her enhanced durability.

no amount of red room training (fighting style) takes your durability beyond normal human limits.

I thought the movie was a fun watch, and Anthony Mackie did a good job. Also, the Leader is one of my favorite Hulk villains, so it was cool to see a version of him on the big screen.

They didn't do enough in the MCU to point out that people who go through Widows training are subject to biochemical engineering to make them stronger, faster, more durable.

Falcon never had that.

But then again that's Disney...in a rush to push certain...agendas without asking if they should or if they even need to.

Mackie was just... OK (as he usually is, lol). He's still more "Captain Falcon" than Captain America to me, but whatever.

Also, this was more of a Hulk sequel than a Captain America sequel (yet Bruce Banner/Hulk is nowhere to be found). Brave New World relies mostly on following up the 2008 Hulk film lol.

Which is honestly crazy. Also, they have Betty Ross (Liv Tyler) be a key part of the story but yet she only shows up for like a 15-second scene

this movie isn't worth trying to make a racial thing out of. if anything, the racial bias shows in the shytty script, etc. they left the new Cap out to dry. the critics aren't ripping this b/c there's a black captain america. they're ripping it b/c the nicest thing you can say about it is, "it's pretty mid." it's a pointless movie that we know was shredded to bits and rebuilt and it shows.

Silly conversation. They’ve had misses, but these movies will continue to get made and make money.

If any of Marvel’s cash cows struggle at the box office (ie Spidey and Avengers next year), then we can talk.

Civil War was the only Cap film to gross over a billion, and that shyt was essentially an Avengers-level film. They’ll be fine.

you have to compare films with their contemporaries as well, as average box office went up across the board for the MCU.

for early MCU (non avenger) films 6-700 million was a hit.

latter phase 2 - phase 3 "solo" hits were hitting the 900 to a billy mark.

now due to recent volatility (covid) it's harder to say what films should achieve, but if non-avenger hits (DP3, SM3) of hero + support characters can hit way over a billy then Cap4 is way behind that.

Cap4 could probably be best compared to non-hits but good financially Dr. Strange 2 / Thor 4 they have an established character, a good budget, famous actors (giancarlo, ford, crowe, bale, thompson, stewart, ijorfor, quiet place guy), support characters (falcon 2, red hulk, zeus, herc, scarlett witch, prof-x, cap carter, reed richards etc).

So all things being equal Cap4 should should hit between 750 million of thor 4 to 950 million of dr. strange 2 total??
