Put it like this.

Let's say they raised the prices of games to 80 bucks now standard.....that's 47 dollars in 2021 which was pretty much the price of a new PS1 game.

That’s not how inflation works :dahell:

Games are cheap as hell now with reference to past prices and inflation.

Games have been ~ $60 since the 90s. If game prices had kept up with inflation games should cost over a $100 right now.

Profit margins on AAA games are shyt right now

that's exactly how it works. :rudy:

Now the profit margins and entitled gamers, you are right. But you have to add in substantially more corporate overheard, labor costs, etc.

Gaming companies were eating like BANDITS back in the day with small studios producing "AAA" games that didn't have the demands gamers have nowadays. I don't feel sorry for them at all.

These corporate execs are severely overpaid in their industry and all all they do is copycat thinking they are making some grand new idea. fukk em.

I don't wanna hear shyt about game prices having to struggle game with SNES and Genesis games in the EARLY 90s paying 80,90 dollars a game. nikka please.

The price of AAA is probably too low.

The way I look at it is that people will regularly pay twenty dollars for a two-hour movie of quality, but seventy dollars for tens or hundreds of hours of gameplay is seen as crazy. Make it make sense.

Look at game prices adjusted for inflation and games have gotten cheaper over time at the same time they've gotten more intense in terms of production schedule and necessary manpower.

I posted 22 years ago when the PS1 had just come out.

you put 80 dollars compared in 2023 compared to 2021? :mjlol:

And PSX came out 28 years ago. Seems you don’t know what the hell you are talking about :dwillhuh:

They cost $50 then which would be $100 today.

Street fighter was $60 in 1994

Today that would be $125.

Games and gaming is the cheapest it’s ever been. Lots of you lack proper perspective.

the cost of things isn't always as simple as following inflation. production and manufacturing costs can lower as the process becomes more efficient
True, but if anything it’s gone the other way.

Games are much larger and take much longer to make now.

I’m positive Capcom spent more time and money on SF6 than they did 2 even after inflation is considered. Profit margin would be much less now than it was then.
