How does it compare to Netflix's Voltron S1 in the dark and gritty?
Maybe on the same level? Cannon Busters really plays up the comedy even though several of the human main character have traumatic pasts they don’t really delve into it, there’s always a joke or quip to lighten the move. In the show’s defense, the jokes and quips ARE pretty funny, Philly’s especially.
As I said before, i’m talking more in a manner of personal taste than anything else. I prefer more “grown up” plot-lines but the anime itself as a package is solid and i could see it really taking off in season 2.

I'm on episode 3 now and I thought you trolled me. I thought this was gonna be a shonen type show but dudes in this are getting shotgun holes to the chest. Suggestive themes and folks flayed on meat hooks! Voltron Legendary Defenders wasn't showing nothing like that.
