Low key got my job because of DEI, it's funny how everyone in my department is a young white man that style their beard the same way, all in their late 20s/early 30s, that all grew up playing hockey. It's funny, they even come in wearing the same clothes from the same stores.

This black lady that's a clerk told me it was only her here, and she's been here since the early 2000s.

During one of the monthly employee appreciation meetings (excuse to go day drinking at the bar) I guess one of the Program Managers drank a bit too much and thought we were cool enough for her to admit, they didn't hire the other guy because they couldn't pronounce his name, and he was way more qualified than me because he actually studied Civil Engineering.

I don’t really think it’s a failure either.

It’s feels racist from the standpoint how white people/Republicans are weaponizing it to mean “if you black or not white, you got the but aren’t qualified other than you check a box of diversity”

Also I reject the whole ”let’s just get rid of it and go back to the old ways”

If people really think it’s a problem, why not go with the logic of “this not working so let’s try this” attitud?

I said it’s a failure based on the stats…it hasn’t achieved its goals or what it claims to be

there is a lot of black people in my department, i would say 25-30%. the boss is lgbt so i think they go out of their way to diversify. not to mention, i live in atlanta so there really is no excuse.

Yes I have. I’ve worked at one of the most diverse Fortune 500 companies and still there was pervasive racial bias.

Yeah but that’s where it’s inherently flawed. It opens doors and gives the appearance of racial progress when in reality if you look at the hiring data, especially among upper level management, it has stagnated or gotten worse. And it will get worse now because DEI will be used as a scapegoat to remove or deny opportunities to the few Black people because they’ll be labeled as DEI hires. Until there are more Black people who actually care about helping Black people across the board in upper management nothing will change.

Tech/healthcare

Black America failed by allowing ourselves to be lumped in the minority box.

White women and Asians gained using minority as their term.

Latinos gained by using minority indigenous and POC.

Black people didn’t get shyt but Tv commercials and lip service.

Should have separated ourselves from that long ago.
