Can we talk about how the sudden death victory in overtime is the cheapest win in all of sports?

Penalty kicks is the cheapest win in all of sports

There's obviously some cheapness to sudden death in the NFL, that's why they changed the rules a few years ago so a FG on the first possession doesn't end the game. But the current rules are plenty fair.

It becomes true sudden death, the next score wins the game.

Same thing with an onside kick.
:patrice:so if a team starts OT recovering an onside kick and then kicks a FG, it's game over? That doesn't sound right....

Yes. That's the rule. People overthink it. The new rule was only put into place to stop the FG on the first drive ending the game, cuz many saw that as lame. Scoring in any other fashion/circumstance ends the game.

Breh, that's the rule. Don't know what else you want to me to say

Edit, just noticed the question of where I got it from.

Umm your defense is able to make a play so yes you also control your own destiny . You act like its a guarantee that the other team gets a td
It's not a guarantee but it goes without saying that you get the massive unfair advantage of an opportunity to match down the field to score a TD to end the match- the team on defence doesn't have the same opportunity
