It’s still the same teams at the top of college tho

where is this major shift happening?
Give it some time. This is the first year of the 12 team playoff format and if this portal, NIL, and the likes stay the same, we'll see what things look like 2-3 years from now.

Good for them but.....

What about all that talk about them not being able to handle the SEC?

Now they the only ones standing in year 1 of the conference
They might be at the top for a while. That's an extremely wealthy school.

School Endowments...

Texas $20 billion
Texas A&M $17 billion
Alabama $1.2 billion
Georgia $1.8 billion
Tennessee $1 billion
LSU $664 million
Auburn $1.1 billion

Imagine if Harvard University wanted to become something big in sports. Their endowment is $50 billion :wow:

Endowment money isn’t used for spending, but the size should tell you hkw much money the alums have and can fundraise. SEC schools can’t compete which is why their congress people are trying to pass things federally.

Right I know the endowments aren't for sports, NIL, etc. But the SEC schools could be facing an uphill battle down the line

Regardless, I don't believe in playing players who haven't done a damn thing in college the big bucks. 500k that first year for a top 25 recruit, then we can renegotiate up to a max of 2 million if you're a certified baller.

Spending multiple millions of dollars on a player who could likely be a total scrub is nuts.

Y’all do realize that QB play was bad in the sec this year and that’s where the inconsistency comes from

Bama was top 10 in defense but the QB turned the ball over 18 times

The Midwest runs College Football now.
NIL is finna shake things up.

A lot of those B1G schools + Notre Dame, have more $$$$ than virtually all the SEC except for Texas and Texas A & M.

The Midwest has always had a strong recruiting base and a pipeline of great coaches. Now they get to throw a little cash around when needed to get a few more of those gamechangers.

I feel like Jeremiah Smith would be playing for Bama if he was born 10 years earlier.

He would have been a Gator if he was born 20 years earlier, or a Cane/Seminole if he was born 25 years earlier. A couple of extra generational players for a Blue Blood is huge.

Maybe.

The past 2 years they certainly have, no argument there.

The future of the sport is very volatile.

The only thing I can say for certain is that the B1G and SEC will be the P2 and whoever wins each year will come from one of those conferences.

Pretty much. This is an SEC and BIG world now and this was always going to be the case. You may get an occasional ACC team like FSU, Clemson, or even a Miami. But the two powerhouse conference will likely win most of the titles. Much of this is cyclical.

The BIG has huge brands with lots of money. The SEC has the most fertile recruiting grounds and adding the state of Texas in 2011 pushes the area further ahead. But it won’t stop Michigan and Ohio State from recruiting these states and the BIG adding California also is a huge plus. California kids have no problems leaving the state but they also may love to stay home and play the likes of Ohio State and Michigan as well.

Yeah lots of those highly talented Florida kids that went to Bama and Georgia and Clemson in the 2010s were going to Miami, Florida, and Florida State in the 90s and early 00s. I don’t think you will ever see those three schools ever dominate in one period ever again. Basically what happened in the states of Texas and California has happened to Florida. Two extremely rich talented states with OOS programs recruiting the place as well as instate programs. Emergence of UCF and USF doesn’t help.
