Can we all admit that Kanye West will leave a bigger trace in music history than Jay-Z?

And tbh Kanye wasn’t even the first to do that. De La and Tribe was doing that in the late 80s early 90s. Even with the fashion thing I’d give Pharrell more credit than Kanye
pharrell is has will always be better @ everything
theses cacye stans praise him for

Absolutely not

ESPECIALLY given current circumstances

At the rate he’s going Kanye will go down as a clown and an epic example of how mental illness and ego can ruin a legacy.

Jay-Z is forever imprinted within music history. From the records he broke, his longevity, successfully transitioning from the streets to the fame, ANY rapper who calls themselves a “businessman” from this point forward will inevitably be compared to Jay-Z. Not to mention his very real stans in the upper echelon of journalism (Elliot Wilson, Dream Hampton) and music history (9th Wonder, Guru) will move Heaven and EARTH to make sure his legend never truly fades.

10-15 years from now we’ll have documentaries on the making of The Blueprint series. Commemorative American Gangster re-releases. Remasters for his music videos. 4K versions of his iconic tours and concerts. Articles about how Vol.2 “shifted” the culture. Pretty much every era of the man’s career is a gold mine for propaganda.

And thats not even dipping into how they can commercialize, repackage, and celebrate his business acumen. Becoming president of Def Jam. The “coin toss” story that led to BP3 being distributed through Atlantic. The story of how Roc-A-Wear took over the hip hop fashion game. Him partnering with Live Nation for a historic recording/touring deal that lead to Roc Nation, which led to J.Cole and Jay Electronica launching their careers.

Jay can literally maximize his own legacy until Blue Ivy has children.

Kanye meanwhile will be looked at as a cautionary tale. Somebody with all the talent and drive in the world who flamed out due to his own demons, idiocy, and ignorance. By the time the very white folks he championed and upheld get ahold of his legacy, they’ll tarnish it, twist it, and set it aflame worse than they EVER did Michael Jackson’s. College Dropout, Late Registration, Graduation, and 808’s & Heartbreak are undeniable. But EVERYTHING else, even MBDTF could realistically be rewritten as the schizophrenic ramblings of a burgeoning madman. They won’t even give him the “mad genius” label. They’ll harp on the Taylor Swift controversies. They’ll harp on WHATEVER Kim Kardashian says he did or said (And she’ll throw him under the bus in revenge for all the mud he’s slung her way during the divorce) They’ll harp on the TMZ interviews (which according to many were the genesis of his Hitler and Nazi sympathizing era) and all the other shyt, to the point it OVERSHADOWS his music.

Jay’s musical legacy will outpoint, outnumber, and outlast Kanye’s because his legacy will be written as one of triumph whereas Kanye’s will be one of tragedy.

Kanye classics: College drop, Late registration, Graduation, 808s and heartbreak, My beautiful dark twisted fantasy, Kids see the ghosts

Jay Z classics: Reasonable doubt, Blueprint, Black album, American gangster, 444

Kanye wins slightly with 6 over 5 classics. Plus he also got tlop which is not a classic but still a good album.

Kanye isn't even on DJ Premier level as a producer. Nevermind Jay-Z level as an artist.

Jay-Z stans mad as fukk. :mjlol:

But it's true tho.:francis:

Knaye music will be passionately debated in 30 years: some people will hail as the ultimate genius while others will trash him as the ultimate fraud.

Jay music will be less remembered, not because it's bad but because it's more shallow.
