As far as pure music goes, I believe in 20 years, Kanye’s music will be looked at as more impactful.
It’s like pure artistry vs talent and longevity.
Ye has changed the scope of music, fashion, influence and culture like no other artist before and maybe after him.
Pure rapping, he isn’t top anything, but his overall impact he’s #1.
JayZ 20 years from now I think is just looked at as the goat (or a goat) and revered. Like every too artist today talks about meeting J or speaking with J as some type of honor, but they are so young you know they don’t listen to JayZ music or really know or care about his catalog per se…it’s like he’s transcended music and stamped himself as the ultimate “career” you strive for, and ppl think about that first over the music.
I think it’s similar(ish) to a Lebron and JayZ. The name Jordan has been invoked every day since Jordan retired in 2002 (20 years) in every part of the world by every citizen regardless of age, and a lot of the time it’s not about basketball lol - it’s about shoes and goat debates - he’s transcended the sport almost (JayZ)
Lebron other hand has the most skill set we may have ever seen, so much so that he hasn’t won as much as others but he’s the one in the goat convo, but it’s because of his overall skill set per se, if that makes sense…
But still most people (gap is closer now) still see Jordan as the goat…
