Can we all admit that Kanye West will leave a bigger trace in music history than Jay-Z?

music is emotion.. that kanye never wrote

consequence wrote jesus walks

were talking about music and youre bringing emotions into it

who cares if you like him
his catalog speaks for itself

if he had no part in his music how come nobody else has done what he's done?

Jay has the same resources
Dre has the same resources
Puff has the same resources
Swizz has the same resources

but somehow Kanye is the only one that creates albums that all sound different
:jbhmm:

how come Consequence hasnt made any music on par with Kanye w/o Kanye?
or Rhymefest?

I agree, I mean Reasonable Doubt is my favorite hip-hop album. But even that’s become a footnote in Jay’s legacy. I’m not sure what it is about Jay or his music that has his career being washed away over time. Maybe it’s how much he emphasizes his business moves that makes that side of his career more prominent than his music. Whereas someone like Nas, who keeps music as the core of his brand, still has Illmatic mentioned as the holy grail 30 years later
U crazy Nas stans must live in some type of bizarro world.

What the hell makes you think his career is being washed away with time? Jay streams considerably more than Nas monthly, Jay drops a verse and it becomes the talk of the culture, Jay’s last solo album outsold the entire King’s Disease series and was far more impactful.

Nobody outside of hip hop nerds and their die hard stans and media outlets care for Illmatic or Reasonable Doubt these are albums that came out almost 30 years ago. They get their praise and all that but the world moves on.

I like quite a bit of Jay's music he's dropped over the years, but IMO the uncomfortable truth is Reasonable Doubt was his apex in regards to quality from head to toe. :yeshrug:
So what? Most artist best shyt is their first shyt.

I get why people dont like Kanye
but the nikka is different

thats just how it is with artist

If MJ was still alive and making music yall would be talking about him crazy...
...because people were talking about him crazy when he was alive

only after his death are folks not talking bad about him

Reasonable Doubt being forgotten by the mainstream and reduced to being listened to by old heads and young, history-minded gatekeepers would be a huge stain on hip hop's credibility as timeless music if you ask me.

Don't forget about "Ether" :lolbron:
I’m not sure what makes you think that.

It’s 2022 album is old as fukk not sure what type of following it should have. Consumers don’t even listen to full albums like that after awhile.

I will tell you this I just saw arguably the biggest young basketball player, Zion Williamson quote RD lyrics in a caption on his IG post, I’ve seen everyone from Drake to Snoh Allegra sample Sonny Liston (Dead Presidents) in the past year, I’ve seen underground rappers like Benny (Burden of Proof) and Stove God (Reasonable Drought) paying clear homage.
