Hope not. I want to see more of us get into soccer

The route to success in soccer is even less visceral and visible than baseball. There are no American stars and the sport is Europeanized. The money isn't as good in soccer as baseball, football, basketball, practically every American sport.

Tbh baseball would be relatively easier to make it big league wise, Would take more training and more money for camps and shyt but it would pay off in the end.

There are three tiers of professional baseball that you'd have to make it from, to even get to the big leagues....players spend their entire careers in the minors.

of the big 3 American sports, baseball is the hardest to make it in.... because it's college system is 4 tiers below it's highest level of competition.

I honestly believe that if the next baseball commissioner can have a conversation with the players and managers about stopping all this unwritten rules nonsense and encouraging players to hype up the crowd during downtime it would lead to a more entertaining game. Imagine an outfielder waving his arms and telling the fans to get up when his pitcher has 2 strikes on a hitter or imagine a guy who it a double stands on second and starts motioning to the crowd to get up to drive him in. Those kinds of actions alone would make the game much more exciting. Crowd atmosphere even more so than pace is the biggest reason why a lot of people find baseball boring. Take football for example, a lot of people will say oh football is much more exciting and action packed then baseball. In reality studies have shown that there's really only 11 minutes of action in an entire 3 1/2 hours of football.

Anyone whose been to an actual game knows that there is plenty of downtime in football. I mean every play follows a situation where the team huddles, they get walk into their formation, some time passes the play happens, a player is tackled the, referee comes by spots the ball the team gets back up to huddle and the same process repeats. Thats not even counting the plays that are constantly interrupted by flags and the fact that the refs have to make an announcement of each penalty that just happened which takes away from the game as well. People don't notice as much because the atmosphere of the game is always electric because of the fact that the games are so meaningful and the players hype up the crowd on every play.

As a dominican watching carribbean series baseball the atmosphere and the showmanship make the games that much more electric and exciting because baseball like football is a sport where a lot of the fun is based on the anticipation of action. There is a stark cultural difference in the way white people (especially older ones) and black people perceive these kinds of celebrations. White people see it as arrogance and selfishness and a lack of professionalism and respect. People of African origins (i say african origins cuz i'm including latinos in this) we value extroverted celebrations. You can look at religion as one example of this. You got christian denominations like catholicism and other puritannical forms of christianity practice their spirituality by valuing humility. African and Native Americans before they were colonized largely practiced their brands of spirituality through dance and celebration. Once they were conquered and had christianity forced on them they took these elements of dance and celebration and implemented them towards their own brands of Christianity and today you see a stark difference in the way two races of people choose to worship one God.

So in turn, baseball's gotta be more open to allowing a more festive atmosphere to their games even if they do play 162 games.Baseball allows less teams into its post-season than do the other sports so there is a higher premium to making the post-season so regular season games are much more critical than they are in the NBA and NHL despite having twice as many games. The teams should try to hype up their fanbases more during games as it would make the games on television that much better and remove some of the negative "old boys club" perception that a lot of young black kids have of baseball today.

So much knowledge breh:salute:

Must watch :wow:

It's not even about seeing black faces or even swag it's about the game itself. Black folks have played baseball since it started. They have done so in congested cities, with a bunch of lily white faces as the faces of the game. The game is too slow and more importantly the money/fame that comes with it is too slow for this generation. Wiggins and Parker been getting hyped up since they were juniors in HS. Other than Harper, who is the last HS baseball phenom to receive that kind of attention? When is college baseball signing day? Ironically enough big money comes at around the same age and there is much more to get in baseball but most people don't really realize this.

nikkas want to get paid now, they ain't trying to wait.

plus they have to go to the minors and worked their way up.

There's a lot of problems to it

1. From my point of View, i don't see the few of black ball players in the league today out in the communities pushing the sports on the youth, like u saw the ken griffey's and willie mays back in the day

2. baseball itself has shift all there efforts to the caribbean which is good, but don't forget about the kids that's right around the corner from your offices

3. Also the kids mindset is on what they see on tv and hear on the radio and what they witness on the net everyday. nfl and nba players chasing instagram and club hoes and that's what draw these dudes attention

4. baseball marketing team need to be fired, cause they have no knowledge how to market the sport.

In terms of the in between action you mentioned in football, a lot of it is based on how much interest you have in the sport. Like you see baseball and all you see is players adjusting there gloves, i'm thinking about what pitch the pitcher might throw, is the hitter gonna hit into a double play, can he move the runner over, can he crack a home run. In reality the average nfl fan doesn't know much about line formations (as was mentioned in a previous coli post) . Another thing thats appealing about the in-between action in baseball during big games especially, is that you can see the tension of the moment all over the park in the hitter's eyes, the pitcher's eyes, the manager in the dugout or the fans on the edge of their seat. The loud atmosphere in the playoffs heightens the drama which is why I think baseball players should be more interactive with the fans in terms of hyping up big moments in the game. You think you'd feel the exact same way about the qb making his play calls and all that other shyt you mentioned if the crowd was as chilled and laid back as in a baseball game. Sometimes when people look at entertainment they overrate action and underrate suspense. Football like baseball is more suspense driven than action driven like basketball, hockey, or soccer are. Football seems more action packed because every game has a playoff atmosphere but in reality the pace of action isn't that far from a baseball game.

i knew them articles was taking outta content
i just ridiculous to compare 3-1/2 hours football game to its 11 minutes of actually gameplay
for the obvious reasons

  • football has the highest ratings so it's going to get more advertisements meaning more commercials
  • football is the most violent sport so was going to have more injury timeouts then other sports
  • football has the longest halftime amongst its peers
so I really don't understand this so knock on football
I've watched other sports where the ball is in play almost all the time and there's absolutely positively nothing going on as far as action

Lol good point. I know Matt kemp and Jose Reyes eat though

For sure they do, but those dudes have that star power. They would probably be famous for something even if they weren't baseball players.

I also don't know if it's a black or white thing, Mike Trout is the best player in the game and he's a jacked 22 year old millionaire, but he couldn't walk into any bar in America and grab 5 girls.

I don't think I or the the article are trying to knock football. I think the point is that most of the excitement in football is about the anticipation of the action (suspense) rather than the amount of shyt going on(action). The amount of commercials in a football game does not get affect the pace of the game. Its just a programming decision by whatever network is broadcasting to go to commercials rather than show coverage of the dead time after a punt return, or during a timeout or during an injury etc.

The non-superbowl hafltime only affects 30 minutes of a game so I guess we can say theres 11 minutes of action in 3 hours of football but thats still not an overwhelming. My whole point was that the anticipation of action in a football game plays better on tv cuz the atmosphere in a football game is always loud and excited before a snap because of whats on the line because its plays significant games every week. In an 162 game season most games have a more chilled atmosphere so the anticipation of action between pitches seems more dull.

Compare that to a playoff game where fans are standing waving towels after ever two strike count and during every rally. In this case the "slowness" of baseball actually adds to the tension that's going on because so many variables can happen in one play and it gives you a chance to think about them under the backdrop of screaming hyped up fans. I understand that football has a more controlled pace cuz it has a clock, I understand that the average play in football is more explosive and physical. All I'm saying is that its not exactly an action packed game and yet its the most popular sport because when it comes to entertainment its not all about "action" its also about "suspense" and "atmosphere". I use that to make my point that when it comes to people finding baseball boring, its less about the slowness of the game as it is about the culture and atmosphere of the game. Which is why I recommend that the next commissioner encourages more fan interaction and displays of raw emotion.

That's the thing. You gotta wait in all sports with the rookie scales and age limits. Even when you are in the minors you still get your money. At least in baseball you have the chance to be in the league at 18 if you are good enough. Gotta wait til 19 in basketball no matter what. Gotta wait until 21 in football.

Lol @ the moronic fukks ITT saying MLB players don't get hoes. Maybe not the typical NBA jersey chasing hoes. But they have bytches that follow the sport and go apeshyt over them just like the NBA and NFL players do.

Stop being so fukking ignorant :snoop:
