Yes someone will break it in about 30 odd years time time.
Why do you say that? The all time scoring record lasted nearly 40 years with no one even being close to surpassing it, lebron still likely will get two or three more all star selections. I just see it not be feasible because of the level of playing time it requires and being an elite athlete that is able to average 25ppg , also while playing tons of games

I'm guessing the top athletes will be able to player at the elite level for longer in 20/30 years. Complete guess of course.

I’m more impressed by the number of All-NBA selections. He holds the record for most total (20) and first team (13).

I came to say this. All-Star is less impressive cause you can get in off of reputation, you can get in with mid numbers. You can be nothing more than a top 30-35 guy in the league and still make the All-Star game if conferences are unbalanced or there's a lot of injuries that year.

Making 20 All-NBA teams is absolutely insane though. You have to be top-15 in the league and there's no fan vote to prop up legacy players. Being at that level for 20 seasons doesn't even make sense.

Kareem, Duncan, and Kobe have 15 All-NBA selections each. That's a number that makes sense when combining incredible talent, work ethic, and longevity.

20 is so far above that, it's ridiculous. Duncan made an All-NBA team when he was averaging just 13.9ppg and 9rpg in 25 minutes....and he still only got to 15 selections. Kobe made an All-NBA team when he was averaging just 19.9ppg (with 5 rebounds and 4 assists) on 46/27 shooting...and he still only got to 15 selections.

Bron has never been below 25-6-6 on efficient shooting in any of his All-NBA seasons and he already has 20 seasons and counting like that. :dead:

Great point also just going by the first team all nba selections at minimum it says lebron was a top 5 player in the league for 13 straight years and it is likely higher than that, for 20 solid years he has been a top 10-15 player in the league , that is insane

I dont think anybody wants to hang around like he does....

No one in league history has ever retired for good while playing as well as LeBron's playing right now. :why:

I think these are the best final retirement seasons ever:

Larry Bird: 20-10-7 on 47/41 shooting at age 35, All-Star but not All-NBA, only played 45 games due to serious back problems and could barely even play in the playoffs.

Jerry West: 20-4-7 on 45% shooting at age 35, All-Star but not All-NBA, only played 31 games due to groin strain, retired due to contract dispute with the Lakers

Micahel Jordan: 20-6-4 on 45/29 shooting at age 39, All-Star but not All-NBA, didn't make playoffs on 37-45 team.

I don't think anyone in league history has retired after an All-NBA season other than MJ, and he kept coming back.

Why wouldn't someone that loves basketball want to keep playing it? nikkas dont stop because they want to. Their body doesnt let them keep going. If it was all want to, nikkas would be playing 50 years.

Because you get old and dont wanna go thru the day to day bullshyt of an NBA player anymore esp if you dont need the money.

I think eventually any longevity/counting stat record will be broken, even if none of us see it. Only borderline physically impossible records like Wilt averaging over 48min will be able to truly stand the full test of time, or when those longevity records just get beyond human capacity
