@spliz

I never really thought about it until this thread but you are right. Dmx did MUCH better work with Dame grease than he did with swizz.

I guess I caught up in the swizz ruff riders hype

The sudden (struggle) Dame Grease dikkriding is hilarious. Grease hasn't made a single dope beat since 1998 :laff: Talk about a fall-off. Let's not forget that Dame Grease is at least a quarter responsible for Nastradamus.

Meanwhile, Swizz made several bangers after 1998, some with X. That's why we talk more about Swizz.

True but notice most em of those nikkas switched up there styles after realizing you aren't going to do much in hip hop following the nas platform; ex.. kendrick's lastest album; and again no slant against nas

j cole has sold more than kendrick so far in both of their careers and he hasn't switched up anything:usure:

Same applies to Jay-Z and he's my fav....but biggie dying propelled him.

98 I had to be put onto jay Z in 7th grade....I was about ma$e, Nas, Busta Rhymes & big pun.

if it were just about biggie dying, then jay would've sold 5 mil off of volume one in '97.

whose to say that biggie & 2pac would've even still been poppin like that by '98-99?? just because they died, it doesn't mean that they wouldn't be on their downside by the turn of the millennium, just like every other '90s rapper.

btw, reasonable doubt was independent & a street classic when biggie was still alive. jay was already seen as one of the guys that had next.
as for DMX, I think he would've made pac look soft and :flabbynsick: if pac wasn't already flat-topped by that point.

:mjlol: hell no u cant make a "case" 4 this shyt

It Was Written is better than every DMX album

Lost tapes and LIG are both on par with X best work

Those boring Swizz tracks age haven't aged well at all. Way too overproduced and garish with no substance beneath them.

DMX has no classics just 3 very good albums, 2 of which are left with asterisks next to them due to suspect production.
Nas has 2, IWW and Illmatic

:mjcry: I wish my nikka never got sick tho. Everytime I see him he look even closer to death than the last time

Biggie was getting better though....
Victory on no way out was peak biggie! And He outdid Bone thugs on notorious thugs which was impressive! Big had much more to give

Now PAC could have and would have been 100% actor so I give you that because he was thinking about hanging up rap. Btw... PAC could have easy played Alonzo Harris in training day!

We're not talking bout who had the better career were talking bout who made dmxs best shyt if it wasn't for dame grease the first album wouldn't have been what it is best believe that breh that is by far dmxs best production. Him and p killer held dmx down no matter what you guys say that is facts the best tracks are nvr club bangers with guys like x. I'm not even saying that dame went into the 2000s with a bunch of heat because your right bout that but what can be said bout swizz beatz is he has the same repititive shyt in every beat some beats are just complete knock off beats sound pretty much the same. shyt is mad corny and annoying that's y some of dmx shyt didn't age well, sounds cheap and dirt.

flesh of my flesh was on par with it's dark, and then there was x was when the decline started but still a very good album which was equal to the great depression

and a cash grab with this?

nope you are blinded by the time between this album and his first:yeshrug:

Yeah it was cash grab, why else was it released in such a short time after the first? Lots of keyboard trash on there.

I disagree, Life After Death is massively overrated due to Bigs death. It was nowhere near AEOM. Ready To Die was where Big peaked he def could've come back with a 3rd album but his work in 97 paled in comparison to his 94-95 run.

lol @ biggie out-doing bone thugs with that sloppy ass verse.
that's biased east coast rhetoric at its finest right there. bizzy bone murdered that track.

and that victory verse is overrated too. he struggled on that beat, if we want to keep it 100. like I said in that "victory vs triumph" thread.

and he would've caught a ton of hate for "life after death" if he lived. it definitely wouldn't be viewed as an all-timer. and while I agree that biggie improved as an emcee from the 1st album, it didn't translate into the product.

I see we agree that pac was about to burn out, and go back to the status he had for most of his career while he was alive.:handshake:

are u kidding?

It's Dark and Hell Is Hot had no I Gave You Power, The Message, Take it in Blood, ect

The hate is too much I think it's dark and hell is hot is way better then it was written and is a classic. Nas on it was written wasn't the same as illmatic he was rapping gangster shyt wen that wasn't even him. For ppl to even compRe those two albums and say it was written is better just tells me dudes just hate on x cuz he's a crackhead and look past the skill cuz they forgot what he was wen he was dope. If it was written had those tracks then what about the intro of dmxs album, let me fly, Damian, look thru my eyes, fukkin wit d, nikkaz done started something? This is some funny shyt dudes is trippin saying that shyt

Hell on Earth
nah...not really.

Nas just makes really really bad choices in women.

On the other hand, X seems like he will suck a dikk for crack.

no comparison
