The fact that it was chosen as a single out of all the other artists songs on there shows u how relevant Nas is. If that was the case than any and every 20 something year vet would get placements and features with relevant artists and remixes on relevant albums. I seen 19 year olds bumpin Nas Album Done. I'd say that's pretty relevant for a rapper 20+ years in the game.

nah. it just shows me that dj Khaled is friendly with nas.

the single went nowhere breh.

of course youre gonna see 19 year olds bumpin it, if its on the biggest compilation release of the year.

:gucci: Nas never been seen as a one dimensional artist tho. Ever ever, nas the only true rebel since the beginning.

Nas can hope on a song like hero and then go jump on a track with rozay like drug dealers dream or accident murders.

Nas always been a man that wore different hats

it says i cant rep you :dwillhuh:

U made my point. He's on the biggest compilation of the year. It was chosen as a single over the many other songs on there. Young people bumpin it. And it's not like Nas is more friends wit him than alotta cats on that album. Son there was Rick Ross. Future. Lil Wayne. French Montana. J Cole. Kendrick Lamar. Chris Brown. Bryson Tiller. Big Sean. Travis Scott. Wiz Khalifa etc etc on that album. And he chose a Jay Z song. A Drake song. And a Nas song as his main singles. U don't really have an argument fam. Lol

Did OP actually say Nas has not influenced anyone from the younger generation........:mindblown:

Lupe
Kendrick
Joey Badass
On and on of actual high caliber lyricists

DMX has charisma and energy that Nas doesn't necessariy have on the reg.....but instead he has a different type of charisma and energy.

OP is judging based on ability to appeal to a party crowd based on his videos he showed. DMX had some quality high energy tracks, even more successful high energy tracks than Nas....

But pound for pound...the answer is no

DMX is dope in his own unique way, but not touching Nas for that Top 5 spot.

Not to mention"Nas Album Done" was basically him making an announcement on somebody else's album. If I'm not mistaken, it was a trending topic.

We're not talking bout who had the better career were talking bout who made dmxs best shyt if it wasn't for dame grease the first album wouldn't have been what it is best believe that breh that is by far dmxs best production. Him and p killer held dmx down no matter what you guys say that is facts the best tracks are nvr club bangers with guys like x. I'm not even saying that dame went into the 2000s with a bunch of heat because your right bout that but what can be said bout swizz beatz is he has the same repititive shyt in every beat some beats are just complete knock off beats sound pretty much the same. shyt is mad corny and annoying that's y some of dmx shyt didn't age well, sounds cheap and dirt.

I agree that X's first album is X's best production and 'made' him. And Swizz has little to do with that.

With one notable exception: Ruff Ryders Anthem. Which made X into a star. Swizz not only made X into a star with that song, he kept DMX artistically-relevant for much longer after that first album. Almost all his songs were way bigger than anything Grease and PK made for X. While Grease and PK flamed out hard after X's first album.

If we list greats tracks that Swizz did for X:

Ruff Ryders Anthem
Some X shyt
No Love 4 Me
Party Up
Get It on The Floor
Blackout

vs great tracks Dame did for X:

Get At Me Dog
Damien
ATF

"nikkaz Done Started Something", "For My Dogs", "Let Me Fly" and "The Convo" are aight but definitely not on the level of the Swizz joints.

All the Swizz joints I mentioned are undeniable classics. How are we gonna say that Dame did way better for X when Dame only did 3 great X joints at best (some of which he got help from PK like on "Get At Me Dog"). Doesn't add up. If we say Dame's shyt plus PK's undeniable shyt (e.g. Stop Being Greedy, X is Coming, How It's Goin Down, Bring Your Whole Crew), then together they contributed more dope tracks than Swizz to X's career but barely.

There's a reason why Swizz is looked at as X's great collaborator on the production tip. This shyt isn't random.

Regardless of how u feel his career went. Dame Grease was the best producer FOR DMX. We ain't talkin bout all that other shyt. Dame Grease and PK gave X his best shyt and his signature sound. They gave him the sound that blew him up. NOT Swizz.

Ruff Ryders Anthem was the biggest song on X's best album, tho.

U wrong as fukk. Nas came off a plat album with Stillmatic. There was never a disappearance.
Yes there was. Nastradamus dropped in November 1999 and Stillmatic didn't drop until December 2001. Thats just over 2 full years between solo albums. And in that time, the only songs he released as singles were Nastradamus, You Owe Me, and Oochie Wally. None of those are considered good Nas songs. So in a two year span, he drops his worst album, with his lowest sales & airplay numbers since his debut album, and doesn't drop a solo project for 2 years after that.

Did the Nastradamus run sustain his relevance for that long? Did the QBs finest album do that? Did his verse on the Thank God I Found You remix do that? You tell me.

I'm as big a X fan as any but this is ridiculous. This thread having this many replies is bananas :heh:

X had a great lil run but he's been mostly non-existent or mediocre for well over a decade. Nas is Hip Hop's Golden Child and still torches the mic when given the opportunity. His collab album with Damien Marley is far better than anything DMX has released in ages. Nas the GOAT.

And can cats please stop entertaining @Wacky D aka @Homeboy Runny-Ray aka @bigbadbossup2012 . Dude is a troll.
Lmao at you believing I'm wacky or runny Ray.
