I am is solid to me :yeshrug:.

But I think it's general conesus nastradamus sucks.
Yea. And that's cause it was leftover tracks from the I Am bootleg which was essentially most of the tracks from Lost Tapes and the best tracks on Nastradamus. They forced him to drop it but instead of just droppin the music he kept off the I Am retail release from the bootleg album. He decided to record a few more songs and drop it the way he did it. It essentially was a throwaway album tho. Which is why it turned out that way. I Am is def dope. Plenty of people felt it was dope at the time too.

Yeah it was cash grab, why else was it released in such a short time after the first? Lots of keyboard trash on there.

Both Lyor and X have said as much. Lyor offered him $1 mil if he could get another album out before Xmas or something like that and he did

So irrelevant he got pop bytches talkin bout him on Ellen. Lol. Y'all nikkas man.

:comeon:

what does him being linked to nicki minaj have to do with his music supposedly being relevant?

I guess T.I. & Tiny are still burning up the music scene as well, right?

The sudden (struggle) Dame Grease dikkriding is hilarious. Grease hasn't made a single dope beat since 1998 :laff: Talk about a fall-off. Let's not forget that Dame Grease is at least a quarter responsible for Nastradamus.

Meanwhile, Swizz made several bangers after 1998, some with X. That's why we talk more about Swizz.
Regardless of how u feel his career went. Dame Grease was the best producer FOR DMX. We ain't talkin bout all that other shyt. Dame Grease and PK gave X his best shyt and his signature sound. They gave him the sound that blew him up. NOT Swizz.

Nas Album Done is one of the 3 most successful songs on DJ Khaled's album and that was just last year. The nikka ain't drop an album since 2012 but he still gets features all the time. He's not irrelevant. That's like saying Jay is irrelevant. No they not always out there in ya face cause they older. But when they drop people pay attention.

translation: it was one of 3 singles from the Khaled album - and it was the least successful of the 3.:heh:

getting placements & features is just industry chit.

The fact that it was chosen as a single out of all the other artists songs on there shows u how relevant Nas is. If that was the case than any and every 20 something year vet would get placements and features with relevant artists and remixes on relevant albums. I seen 19 year olds bumpin Nas Album Done. I'd say that's pretty relevant for a rapper 20+ years in the game.

wtf does that have to do with anything? Wru 10 years old u don't understand? I can name 100 producers better then swizz foh keep worrying bout sales, pop acclaim and club bangers " u don't know shyt :scust: that shyt makes me sick. what we're discussing is who's the best beat maker for dmx and that's p killer and dame grease go study the art and stop dancing to the club bangers learn something kid......
fukk pop,who made more hiphop bangers? swizz still wins cause he's one of the greats ,them nikkas aint. They just aight.
And swizz has produced better beats for dmx than anyone overall. And in dmx's prime specifically..
YOu can't name 100 producers better than swizz, probably can't even name 20,so stop it

We're not talking bout who had the better career were talking bout who made dmxs best shyt if it wasn't for dame grease the first album wouldn't have been what it is best believe that breh that is by far dmxs best production. Him and p killer held dmx down no matter what you guys say that is facts the best tracks are nvr club bangers with guys like x. I'm not even saying that dame went into the 2000s with a bunch of heat because your right bout that but what can be said bout swizz beatz is he has the same repititive shyt in every beat some beats are just complete knock off beats sound pretty much the same. shyt is mad corny and annoying that's y some of dmx shyt didn't age well, sounds cheap and dirt.
If it wasnt for swizz,x would have never been a superstar. Them lackluster nikkas couldnt take X to heavenly heights.
nikkas on here acting like dame really laced x with some classic beats, lmao. That nikka laced X with average beats.
That's why he's never become anything

Interesting debate. Honestly I think you gotta look at it in 2 halves since both X and NaS been in the game a decade plus. The first 5 years for both were very impactful. Both got Classics out the gate too. Commercially X has the edge with 30+ Million sold to NaS 20+ Million but Lyrically/Flow NaS wins easily. Energy/Passion are definitely X attributes. X shut sh!t down though in the late 90's/Early 2000's. This is why I don't even really get mad if someone told they have X in their Top 10 because he is one of the ILLest. We are talking two Legendary Rappers here.

But NaS zooms past X in this race after those first 5 years. NaS has had a more consistent 2nd half of his career than X has had. Again I'm not even going to bring in X's constant drama either, we are talking music. The 2nd half of X's career musically just hasn't been that great and I'm a fan for life but I have to be honest. NaS 2nd half hasn't been perfect by any means but he's drop more solid material than X has. I do think X's career needs more love and people are caught up in the outside music antics. But I can't put him over Esco. With all that said, that collabo they did on "I Am" was the sh!t and I'll always love "Belly".

Lmao,cause you said so?
Your stance is backed by nothing else.
Swizz gave him the hits, not that mediocre beat guy.
And not just the radio shyt.
Swizz has more memorable beats than dame regarding x period.
Swizz produced dmx's follow up and swizz best beatz on there > dame's on IDAHIH.
Ain't nobody going around humming the grooves to dame's weak as beats.
He's a run of the mil bum. You could exchange his weak beats for any average ny producer circa 97-98 and keep RR anthem and dmx still blows up.
Remove swizz and x is nothing

So many clown comments in the 9 pages. Cant even imagine the next 11...

Bottom line IMO is X clearly had a better run even COUNTING Nas currents.

Meth does NOT belong on anyones top 10.

I would rather bump a best of X playlist over a best of Nas playlist.

Like both artists tho and have playlists of both.

I'm as big a X fan as any but this is ridiculous. This thread having this many replies is bananas :heh:

X had a great lil run but he's been mostly non-existent or mediocre for well over a decade. Nas is Hip Hop's Golden Child and still torches the mic when given the opportunity. His collab album with Damien Marley is far better than anything DMX has released in ages. Nas the GOAT.

And can cats please stop entertaining @Wacky D aka @Homeboy Runny-Ray aka @bigbadbossup2012 . Dude is a troll.

One myth that needs to be dispelled is the notion that Nas is living off Illmatic. Illmatic, as iconic as it is, didn't make Nas a star. It Was Written did. When whispers and murmurs started becoming roars, it was Stillmatic that brought Nas back. God's Son and The Lost Tapes kept him there. Hip Hop Is Dead proved that he could still be impactful. Life Is Good and particularly the build up to that album had him connecting with younger audiences via appearances on Wayne, Nicki Minaj, and Tyga albums without compromising his position as an elder statesman in Hip Hop.
