This. That boy always has and always will be plain stupid
If Cam won the SB but came in second to a worthy competitor for the MVP, he'd still be remembered as "doing his job" AND he'd have the ultimate proof of success in the sport.

I get it too. But even still there are levels. I appreciate LaDainian’s position more than Cam’s because being a HoFer takes greatness over a period of time while being MVP just takes one magical season. Maybe it’s because of that SB performance and how has career turned out after that but I question if Cam will make the HoF. I think he might be in that McNair and Boomer Esaison category.I understand his point. I remember they asked LaDainian if he'd rather have a ring than be a HOFer and he said he'd rather be a HOFer
It's because being a HOFer or MVP is more exclusive than winning a ring. Even team mail room employees and janitors get SB rings.
Seems like the only people saying that are the ones that never won an SB.I understand his point. I remember they asked LaDainian if he'd rather have a ring than be a HOFer and he said he'd rather be a HOFer

It was still a game when that fumble occured, if they recover they've got a good chance to win
I feel like I live in bizarro world regarding that fumble with how everyone talks about it. Like he just stood there and didn't do a damn thing or made a concious decison to back all the way away. If you watch it in real time (and not that super slomo gif everyone spams) he overshoots the ball so it's right at his feet, at that point his lineman and a Broncos d-line are both diving at the ball which is also right at his legs (neither guy recovers despite diving btw). It was so quick I think he just instinctively jumped back a split second so no one runs into his legs, but he does go after that ball. He's on the ground right after clawing for it, and was actually in good position to recover it until Von Miller batted it back (which could've easily been a penalty)
I just think it's weird how everyone says that play defines who he is as a player when there has never been an instance before or after of him shying away from contact. We're talking about the most physical QB of his generation, maybe ever really. I think it's fair to criticize him for his performance and I'm sure he has regrets about how he went after the ball, but I don't look at that play like he punked out or he was the sole reason they lost. Did not recovering seal the game, sure. But they lost because his O-Line got obliterated by the Broncos D-Line which got him mauled, causing seven sacks and two redzone turnovers
This. Cam was crying a couple of weeks ago, because there weren’t any images of him in the Panthers facilities and he felt that the organization didn’t respect his career. That doesn’t happen if he wins a Super Bowl. He'd be more lauded tbh. Brees a god in the Big Easy, I don't know if Cam gets that reverence in Charlotte

Give me 4 mvps >>>> never making the playoff my whole career
