bad idea. he gotta go now. They had 30 million in cap space and blew it on Joe Harris. The man is a terrible GM
He kicked the can to this summer. All his signings are expiring deals, but I don't think he has any real vision on what type of team to build. He's gonna get the full season at minimum. But I don't think he has any idea what to do with that cap space this off-season. Time for him to pass the sticks:martin:

you cant be rebuilding for 4 years and have zero progress. IDK what a good trade even looks like for them, considering they have little draft capital and everyone knows their players suck :manny:

Weaver help build the early OKC dynasty. He learned under Presti. You can tell he had a hand in Westbrook because he keeps drafting physical specimens with high athletic ability and minimum basketball skills. I think he has a a vision but jsut that one vision. He needs to be flexible in how he wants to build this nucleus. His trade have been ok. The Duren trade was great and he traded basically two 2nd rounders to select Sasser.

I’m not sure how much film Monty has reviewed of this pistons squad prior to his arrival… that was the knock on him in Nola. They ain’t believe he out in the hours outside of team hours to really put together plans for his team. I rmeberbnew Orleans fans tweeted “most coaches sleep on the team facility overnight once a week because they putting in so many hour trying to put it all together. I bet Monty leaves as the players leave . He probably isn’t even the first one in the building” :russ:

Dude be coming to the post gamer pressure repeating what we just saw

That’s probably the most pressing concern. They’ve sucked for years, and talked on other teams bad contracts but don’t have any assets to show for it.

In fairness on this issue, due to SVG's fukk ups with drafts and the Blake Griffin trade, Weaver didn't come into a situation where there were any assets at all worthwhile to be able to start to build a warchest of assets. It wasn't like a OKC where they were able to build off of PG, Westbrook, etc or Houston with the Harden trade. Detroit could really do nothing but strip it down to the studs and bottom out. The issue is it looks like Weaver hadn't had any plans on next steps beyond trying to get the lowest draft picks he could. This seems to be where they're stuck at.

Part of the problem is is that teams around the league are simply too stacked to the point if you're a bad team, you're going to be down bad with a long shot to beat most teams. The best teams around the league have 2 bonafide stars with legit 1c-1d options who can take over at any night. In fact, many teams do. When your team doesn't have a bonafide star nor any 1b's, you're going be in a tough one in 2023.
