Gen Z kids and StockX is what ruined it. You had white and asian sneakerheads even back in the day, but don't as many as black folks. We were more upfront about our love for shoes

I’m well aware of the whole sneakerhead culture but I swear I never understood dudes fawning over shoes, like Eddie said in Life “that’s just something I always pictured a woman doing”.

For a long time being infatuated and having a closet full of shoes was a female stereotype, I always wondered when the switch happened and why?

for us (black folks) it was a sign of having money. Dope boys and rappers in the 80s always had the cleanest expensive kicks.

I agree op. But at the end of day their shoes and overpriced shoes. If cacs won’t to buy them up let ‘em. They can sit on those overpriced shoes and think about all the money they wasted.

Not a sneakerhead by any means, but I've been buying sneakers recreationally since a teenager. There was a point of time where buying Jordans or athletic sneakers was a heavy black people only thing to the point you got some vibes from other groups. Yeah you would have some cac or asian tokens who liked collecting but it was heavily black people as the face (willing to bet it was like this in other sneaker generations as well). Now a days the cultural aspect has been opened to everyone to the point these other groups try to school you to the s*** like black people haven't been the trendsetters of all these shoes that's the only part that has me vexxed.​

You'll see the terms RL and GL on that forum a lot. They stand for Red Light and Green Light. When buying reps, the seller will usually send you a pic of the shoes they'll be sending and it's up to you to find any flaws with them before they ship out. They're squeezing the little guy out so it's becoming pure corporate. Because of this they're growing strains that smell better to attract dumb squares. That's why we don't see weed that stinks like a cats ass. But that stuff was the most powerful stuff and had different effects.
