Yes, cacs did wear J’s and other Nike’s in the 80’s and 90’s. Go look up Megadeth and Anthrax and all of those other cac metal bands and they all wearing nothing but classic J’s when they first came out too. Dougie Howser, Seinfeld, lil boy from Rossane always stayed wearing heat. I think sometime between the time Vanilla Ice was exposed and Kurt Cobain offed himself, cacs learned to stay in their lane and not go full culture vulture. :unimpressed:

The difference between now and the 80’s/90’s is cacs weren’t buying up all the J’s and Nike’s and reselling them. Back in the 80’s/90’s, J’s actually sat on the shelf and you could go to a shoe store and buy them any time. You could go to a damn sporting goods store to cop heat. J’s were like Lebrons back then. The newest J’s were usually first battle tested on the basketball court... then nikkas started to wear them casually.

And yes, it’s cacs that ruined it. Mainstream American cacs. The same cacs that were wearing cowboy boots and dressing like Larry the Cable Guy when Trump was in office. Because in certain urban areas cacs always been up on sneaker game because of their close proximity to gamed up nikkas (i.e. NYC, the Bay). Now, even the lamest most suburbanized cacs wearing 1’s and 4’s. :scust:It used to be that only FlightClub had the unreasonable high resale prices. But now StockX has set the standard for all exorbitant resale prices. They want $800+ for regular ass orange and white dunk lows for god’s sake.:gucci: It seems like J’s that black folks actually like (i.e. 11’s, 12’s, 13’s, 6’s, 3’s) don’t have the crazy high resales like the models cacs like (i.e. Jordan 1, dunk lows, sb Dunks, off white Nike’s). You can still get 5’s and 6’s for a lil over retail. Before white folks started wearing Jordan 1’s, they used to hit the clearance rack... just a few years ago. Now they want $2000 for a pair of Chicago’s. :hhh:

North Jersey but I miss Cali :sadcam:
As a resident :flabbynsick: poster I’m amused by all of this.

I remember every Jordan release in the 80’s up until he retired. There’s nothing like the 11’s dropping for the FIRST time. Everything after that is bullshyt to me. People rocking Jordan’s and wasn’t even born then the shoe first came out or never even seen MJ play is funny to me.

and some throwbacks that people jock weren’t even hot like that when they originally dropped :mjlol:.

What’s worse is the way nikkas feel like they have to outdrip these cacs by wearing nothing but $1000 kicks everyday.:mindblown: And the thousand dollar kicks nikkas rock are a thousand dollars retail (i.e. Balenciaga, Dior, LV). And those thousand dollar kicks have a bad habit of going out of style the minute you manage to actually scrape together an extra $1300 to cop them.:heh: For instance, all the rappers stopped wearing them Versace Chain Reactions this year even though Versace still sell them. And when the rappers stop wearing something, regular folks stop wearing that shyt too. One of the reason certain Nike’s resell for a band is because reseller see that nikkas pay over a stack for “designer” kicks. :snoop: I miss when retros used to sit on the shelf in the mid 2000’s and you could be considered fresh wearing LRG fits from the mall. Now, you ain’t fresh unless you wearing head to toe Dior or Louie everyday. :wtf:

It’s not the resellers, it’s the manufacture. Intentionally keeping supplies low vs demand. They could easily make enough, but they would their mystique. The whole limited edition, limited stock is bullshyt.

I fail to see how Nike actually profits from keeping their stock low on certain kicks. It seems like only the resellers are profiting. I think Nike has kept it stock on certain kicks limited for years, it’s just now that more people want them because social media has all these white suburban cornballs thinking they gamed up.

It’s not about profit with these retros. It’s marketing and branding.

At the end of the day, black folks don’t own shyt in America. :what:That’s why it’s so easy for cacs and others to gentrify the hood, gentrify the rap game, gentrify the sneaker game, gentrify the dating game. And the successful clothing brands that black folks did own (i.e. Phat Farm, Fubu, Rocawear) were treated as fly by night trends and sold off for cheap and led to slaughter on the clearance rack at Macy’s, TJ Maxx and Burlington Coat Factory. Imagine Ralph Lauren going out of business and selling all his brand(s) to Ross when it temporarily wasn’t popping in the streets anymore. :beli:

nikkas claiming ownership of Nike and Jordan when Phil Knight, Tinker Hatfield and them are as white and swagless as you can get. :ld:nikkas don’t own Nike, the company. It’s kind of ironic that the most quintessential American sneaker brand only catered to mostly black folks for decades. Up until a couple years ago, cacs were wearing sandals all year round, dirty Chucks, Toms and other swagless random shyt. Jordan wouldn’t be shyt without Nike. To this day, Jordan brand is still owned by Nike. Even Ye knew he had to partner with Adidas and Gap to be taken seriously. What else are nikkas going to take ownership of? Kung Pao chicken in the hood? Cacs feel so comfortable taking over the sneaker game because they know Nike is not a black brand. Just like they know that white folks used to live in the hood back before it was the hood in the 50’s and shyt. :snoop:And marriage is an outdated concept so none of these bytches is cuffed before the eyes of God, and every advertisement got a swagless cac with a black woman, so they coming for all the black women now too. Gentrifying p*ssy too.

Shut yo Canadian ass up. :what:Y’all Canadians are all soft. You missed the point, Tinker Hatfield is white as hell. I didn’t say his designs weren’t fresh. And Jordan made Jordan’s hot at the end of the day. Nobody would be wearing Jordan 13’s if they were sold at Payless with no Nike or Jordan logo. Hella Jordan’s are ugly and only sell because of the legacy of Jordan.
