At the end of the day, black folks don’t own shyt in America. :what:That’s why it’s so easy for cacs and others to gentrify the hood, gentrify the rap game, gentrify the sneaker game, gentrify the dating game. And the successful clothing brands that black folks did own (i.e. Phat Farm, Fubu, Rocawear) were treated as fly by night trends and sold off for cheap and led to slaughter on the clearance rack at Macy’s, TJ Maxx and Burlington Coat Factory. Imagine Ralph Lauren going out of business and selling all his brand(s) to Ross when it temporarily wasn’t popping in the streets anymore. :beli:

nikkas claiming ownership of Nike and Jordan when Phil Knight, Tinker Hatfield and them are as white and swagless as you can get. :ld:nikkas don’t own Nike, the company. It’s kind of ironic that the most quintessential American sneaker brand only catered to mostly black folks for decades. Up until a couple years ago, cacs were wearing sandals all year round, dirty Chucks, Toms and other swagless random shyt. Jordan wouldn’t be shyt without Nike. To this day, Jordan brand is still owned by Nike. Even Ye knew he had to partner with Adidas and Gap to be taken seriously. What else are nikkas going to take ownership of? Kung Pao chicken in the hood? Cacs feel so comfortable taking over the sneaker game because they know Nike is not a black brand. Just like they know that white folks used to live in the hood back before it was the hood in the 50’s and shyt. :snoop:And marriage is an outdated concept so none of these bytches is cuffed before the eyes of God, and every advertisement got a swagless cac with a black woman, so they coming for all the black women now too. Gentrifying p*ssy too.

i own Nike stock

I understand what you saying tho

Shut yo Canadian ass up. :what:Y’all Canadians are all soft. You missed the point, Tinker Hatfield is white as hell. I didn’t say his designs weren’t fresh. And Jordan made Jordan’s hot at the end of the day. Nobody would be wearing Jordan 13’s if they were sold at Payless with no Nike or Jordan logo. Hella Jordan’s are ugly and only sell because of the legacy of Jordan.
you called him swagless then say Jordan made Jordans hot... Tinker literally designed THE BEST JORDANS AND MOST OUR FAV NIKE SHOES PERIOD... :gucci:

try hard goofy shyt. performative militancy. you could have made a point without all the extra sauce

I blame these cac sneaker influencers like Harrison Nevel and Foamer Simpson. :hhh:Being a sneaker head used to mean something. These cacs have no authentic nostalgia for any of the sneaks they are charging up the resale for. Us 80’s babies remember when many of these Jordan’s and shyt originally came out. And most of our parents weren’t copping hundred dollar kicks at a time when kids were getting killed for Jordan’s and Starter coats when the crime rate was at an all time high in every city. I remember being a freshman in high school and nikkas hooping in the original Jordan 12’s, 13’s and the OG foams. :wow: These cacs wasn’t with me shooting in the gym. But then again, nikkas forget Nike was founded by a bunch of swagless white dudes from Oregon. :skip:

The thing is though that most cacs who gentrified the sneaker game have no real drip. They don’t know how to dress at all. Back when I was in high school, had to know how to dress. You had to have coat game, sweater game, leather game, pea coat game, gortex game etc. etc. These cacs now getaway with thinking they got drip off of hype and logos on hoodies. In the late 90’s and early 2000’s, shoes game was limited to mostly Timbs and Air Forces and whatever new Jordan dropped that year. Retro’s weren’t released every week or even year back then.

From what I see, this is a trend with cacs. In a couple years, being a sneakerhead and super hypebeast will be looked at as corny amongst cacs. If it hasn’t already. Definitely seen as resurgence of wiggas the past couple years. :mjlol: They haven’t realized how game goofy they look yet. Literally everything these cacs touch turns into a meme. The “urban” style is only the icing on the cake. It was the movement behind Hip Hop that made the style pop. You can’t buy style because true style is an art and the best art comes from pain. :francis:

lo key the embracing of wearing J's with your suit by everyone on TV and thus out in public has had a big impact
It used to be taboo to wear J's or sneakers after you have "grown up" and there are threads still made to day on the Coli about it but in reality all of us who grew up in the 80s/90s and remember wearing J's fondily are happy that we can wear them now even if we are :flabbynsick: and not looked down upon because everyone wants to wear them
Kenny brought it up when they eulogized Virgil last week when he gave credit to Virgil saying he's the reason why Ernie wears 11s every week on Inside the NBA
Perk wears J's on ESPN with his suit
The dudes on NFL Live wear J's with their suits
And then you have Skip every Friday:mjlol:

you're right but none of the shyt was really that deep

like dude said black people dont own it, and asian people make it under the table
so realistically fukk the whole label bullshyt ... all the european brands are the worst, I rock the replica shyt
I aint never seen no european man sew some Louis Vuitton together, everyone not profiting from it carries the brand that's marked up 1000%

I say make all the shyt oversaturated and below average so it becomes played out
its no worse than people wanting jordans just for the sake of it being jordan
when they first came out they were priced higher but it made sense at the time
now shyt is MORE expensive for shoes that have been dropped 20+ times, and most of it is hype culture.

rundmc didnt even get paid for carrying adidas into a huge spotlight, great shoes but people still relate it to them and breaking etc

Yes, cacs did wear J’s and other Nike’s in the 80’s and 90’s. Go look up Megadeth and Anthrax and all of those other cac metal bands and they all wearing nothing but classic J’s when they first came out too. Dougie Howser, Seinfeld, lil boy from Rossane always stayed wearing heat. I think sometime between the time Vanilla Ice was exposed and Kurt Cobain offed himself, cacs learned to stay in their lane and not go full culture vulture. :unimpressed:

The difference between now and the 80’s/90’s is cacs weren’t buying up all the J’s and Nike’s and reselling them. Back in the 80’s/90’s, J’s actually sat on the shelf and you could go to a shoe store and buy them any time. You could go to a damn sporting goods store to cop heat. J’s were like Lebrons back then. The newest J’s were usually first battle tested on the basketball court... then nikkas started to wear them casually.

And yes, it’s cacs that ruined it. Mainstream American cacs. The same cacs that were wearing cowboy boots and dressing like Larry the Cable Guy when Trump was in office. Because in certain urban areas cacs always been up on sneaker game because of their close proximity to gamed up nikkas (i.e. NYC, the Bay). Now, even the lamest most suburbanized cacs wearing 1’s and 4’s. :scust:It used to be that only FlightClub had the unreasonable high resale prices. But now StockX has set the standard for all exorbitant resale prices. They want $800+ for regular ass orange and white dunk lows for god’s sake.:gucci: It seems like J’s that black folks actually like (i.e. 11’s, 12’s, 13’s, 6’s, 3’s) don’t have the crazy high resales like the models cacs like (i.e. Jordan 1, dunk lows, sb Dunks, off white Nike’s). You can still get 5’s and 6’s for a lil over retail. Before white folks started wearing Jordan 1’s, they used to hit the clearance rack... just a few years ago. Now they want $2000 for a pair of Chicago’s. :hhh:

kanye is the reason jordan 1's are expensive

I’m well aware of the whole sneakerhead culture but I swear I never understood dudes fawning over shoes, like Eddie said in Life “that’s just something I always pictured a woman doing”.

For a long time being infatuated and having a closet full of shoes was a female stereotype, I always wondered when the switch happened and why?
