My youngest sister works at a crazy work place y’all. She started the job in August. The cacs are nosey asf at her job too.

She said that every morning, as soon as she gets in they start asking all these questions, she can barely eat her breakfast without them all in her face. She said she doesn’t like talking first thing in the morning because she’s not in the mood. She’s tried putting on headphones so that they get the clue, but they still kept talking, even tapping on her shoulder to get her attention.

One day she was really not with it and just straight up ignored them when they tried talking to her. So they asked her if everything was okay, etc. and what was wrong and wouldn’t let it go. In effort to keep her job she lied and told them she barely got sleep.

So the next day she just came in earlier so she could eat in peace without them all in her face. It worked for a few days but then they implemented a policy where every Monday they each have to stand up and say what they did over the weekend, like there in fukking school. Like legit forcing her to share information with their nosey asses.

Every time she tries to go out to lunch, her boss wants to tag along. She just started bringing her lunch and eating at her desk now—

They started a sharing series where every Thursday they have to share something extremely personal about themselves to everyone else. She said two people were crying last week as they were revealing their personal stories.


And now the newest policy is every Friday they have dance parties and each one of them have to take a turn being a dj... it’s a bunch of old white ladies. Imagine being forced to attend these parties with old cacs dancing all around you. She said she was standing there last week looking like this as the cacs were dancing around her.

One of them said, “why aren’t you dancing, don’t be scurred” and she said she legit wanted to quit in that moment. Told me yesterday that this job is burning her soul.

Preach. Here's my situation currently :

I work for this billion dollar black owned business in transportation. 95% of people here are black. The drivers, the managers, HR, operations, training teams, hell even the General Manager is black. Not Bi-racial "black" either. Black black.

As you can imagine, everyone is cool. No watering down your personality. No walking on eggshells, no code switching. Just nikkas choppin up game, talking about nikka shyt and making the business successful.

Unfortunately, it's this ONE cac that don't even live in my city or work at this location making this gig absolutely insufferable through email, calls and when he comes here.

Just constant nitpicking, constant nagging. Backstabbing. Whining. Writing nikkas up. Throwing people under the bus on conference calls. Putting nikkas on the spot with retarded questions and unreasonable, vague requests.

There's a collective groan whenever his name is mentioned. It's gotten so annoying lately, I'm considering leaving this corporate job FULL OF BLACK PEOPLE to find something else.

If this ONE cac wasn't working here and in our business, I'd legit stay here until I retire or get my own side business started.

Past couple of weeks of this cac shyt has really accerated me looking into getting real estate poppin off sooner or later.

I don't mind working with cacs, but if I can't tell you to stfu and still keep my money, it's builds a shyt load of emotional stress.

Is he/she in a mangerial position?
Do they call YOU out?
Do the other managers that are black take him seriously?
If the answer is no then I would simply ignore and keep working a job like that tbh

They LOVE that shyt. Sports, food, alcohol, travel, outdoor shyt will have you at the top of the food chain.

I personally don’t have a problem being social and friends with my coworkers. All of us already have a shyt ton in common, went to the same colleges, and live damn near in 1 mile square radius of each other so we are already hitting each other up going to bars, sports games, and brunch together. We travel and all that shyt. Co-worker just invited me up to their family’s cottage at the Huron Mountain Club, this exclusive as shyt summer colony on the Upper Peninsula.

It’s all a game. And because most of us are tokens, we have to remember that we paving the lane for other blacks that come after us and our fukk ups become their fukk ups, which isn’t fair, but just the reality. So you play the game.

I can feel you’re sis as I too am the only black person in my office.

But I found ways to navigate that.

Just ask them questions and pretend like you’re interested. People love to talk about themselves especially white office folks.

She do that and she can just let them rant then it’s like “ok well good talk, gotta get started” and that alone counts as being social

This. They lovvvve talking and bragging about themselves. You could know the intricacies of their whole life story in the course of 2 hours. Know it all, show it alls. I don’t tell them anything about myself outside of work related stuff; it’s not like they give you time it a chance to get a word in when they start talking or you pretend that you’re interested lol. My firm is kind of diverse though- we dominate in the IT and Data Mgt, Conflicts, HR and Accounting depts. So at minimum, I don’t feel like the only “one” in the room.

My bad everyone, shyt got so real at work today after I did this thread. Got so busy. But basic info:
She works in learning and development.
The place she works at is very established been around for years actually, it’s not a start up.
In her department it’s all older white women, middle age and whatnot. This is where it’s happening.
No white men, or if they’re there they’re few and far between.
She is looking for another job, but for now she has to say put.
She’s been telling them as little as possible even with the policy to share what she did that weekend.
