My Pops Forever RIP
I was watching a doc on them a while back. What also helped move their greatest hits record was the classic rock radio stations that took off in the 80's. They actually got bigger b/c of that then when they where together.

I wonder if their will ever be a huge explosion of classic hiphop station like their where with the classic rock stations in the 80's.
It won’t ever reach that kind of level on FM radio

Theyve been neck and neck since the 80s.

Thats the one thing about old rock bands! They are the definition of legacy acts. They can still sellout venues while charging 100 a ticket. shyt pink floyds darkside of the moon stayed in the billboard 200 from 1973 1888 and still sells 8500 copies a week.

I think rap is finally reaching that phase with Jay, Em, and Nas

:merchant: 1973-1888 ...that's one helluva feat

Lol @ the anger in this thread. Some of yall are seriously brainwashed to think that everyone must know all things white in this country. I've heard of the eagles. I've heard hotel California before. Never knew the eagles made hotel California till this thread.

MJ song comes on and you know it's an MJ song. Hotel California comes on, and i had no idea who sang it and frankly didnt give a fukk. It never gave me the urge to seek out who sung it. Shocked it's part of one of the highest selling albums of all time.

A bunch of white Baby Boomers who still buy CDs are buying that shyt to play in their luxury cars.

White Baby Boomers are the worst generation of all time. No taste, no sense, no culture, racist as fukk, greedy as fukk. Basically, if you shipped every white Baby Boomer in America to some island elsewhere, we'd solve a lot of problems.

It amazes me how thriller was actually like the 7th single off the album ...over a year after the album released...and the album and single still performed crazy...nikkas in the 80s really had to listen to 6 other singles before realizing “maybe I’ll check this album out now” :heh:

There was only radio. Totally different era back then. Mtv started showing videos in 81 and MTV didnt want to show Michael Jackson vids until 83

How MTV Handled Accusations of Racism and Became More Inclusive

It took major prodding to get MTV to play “Billie Jean,” the second track from Jackson’s 1982 album Thriller. Released Jan. 2, 1983, the single would go on to top the Billboard 100 chart for seven weeks, but Walter Yetnikoff, president of CBS Records Group, reportedly had to threaten to remove all other CBS videos from MTV before the network agreed to air the video for “Billie Jean.”
