Couple years ago I got a call around 10PM from a number I didn't recognize. Turns out it was a (white) former bball teammate of mine. He said he ran into my dad at a grocery store, and he gave him my number.
:jbhmm:

We reminisced over some shyt and then he hit me with the pyramid shyt. "Hey man your dad told me you don't like your job so I want to get you to come to a meeting for my group, Primerica..."
:martin:

Invited me to an 8AM meeting. I told him I'd look into the company and give him a call back. Did my research....lots of fukkery. Their "sales people" don't make any money, basically. As in like...$1000-3000 a year base "salary" and you gotta make sales to get more.

So I call him back and say I have no interest in this, and tell him it's a pyramid scheme. I can hear him scrambling papers on the line, as if he wrote some talking points to tell me. He starts hitting me with passive aggressive shyt. "This is a Christian owned company, and I'm gonna assume you don't work for a Christian company right now so why do you trust them..." etc. He then hit me with some Dame bars about ownership and working for a boss and I had to hit him with a bomb.

:martin: "So how much did you make last year with Primerica?"

:whoa: "Well I made a little over two thousand dollars but - "

:gucci: "You made two thousand dollars in a year, yet are telling me to quit my 90k/yr job? What sense does that make on any level

:whoa: "Having multiple side options for income is required, you know, with THIS PRESIDENT in office..."

(he's a fundamentalist Christian who hated Obama)

:heh: "Well I'm doing pretty nice, and my portfolio has skyrocketed under Obama. How about yours?"

:whoa: "I don't have a portfolio. I'm mainly interested in cash ..."

 "not making two thousand dollars a year"

:to:

I didn't want to be mean but come on. Dude told me he works at a pizza joint also, where he prob makes 20k a year or so. I'm sorry but you can't call me trying to shame me into being broke with you.

I've been severely cutting back on my Coli usage to focus on other activities but this shyt got me 187 hot

So in my GEB1011 class I had a group project and the only other breh in my group was pretty cool. He was texting me about class stuff and what not, but he was also just hitting me up about the actual college im general. In passing I mentioned that I was doing preliminary work on a business plan for a mobile development company I had in mind. 2 weeks ago, after class he stopped me and another Hispanic dude in our class and said he wanted to talk to us about a "business plan thing he was trying to do" I thought he was another young breh tryna make moves in business so I was hype to find out what he was trying to do:mjgrin:

We were scheduled to meet twice last week but had to reschedule because of something on his part. We were finally able to meet today so I get to school, walk to the student life center and it's a group of kids there, he comes out the group and says "Wanya bro come over here!!!" We sit down at the table and he says "Look man, I see a lot of potential in you man, you're extremely intelligent and I know you can be great so I got a business opportunity for you! Watch this video!" He hands me his phone and the video starts and I see a mothafukka holding a purple "You Should Be Here" banner and the WorldVentures logo:gucci:

I watch about 6 minutes of this bullshyt and look up at this nikka cheesing saying "I know it's crazy right bro!!!" (I was smirking to hide the fact I wanted to snuff this fakkit for wasting my time) I then said "So it's multilevel marketing right?" and he said yes, to which I replied "That's a pyramid scheme my nikka" and he hit the :hubie:"NONONONONONO it's not a pyramid scheme at all!" I said "So from what they're saying, you make money by putting more people on and they gotta put people on? That's literally the definition of how a pyramid scheme works:martin:" Then I hear a girl voice from the group he was in that said "Do you know what a pyramid scheme is?" and she comes from behind and tries to tell me how she's been on 27 vacations in 3 years (BULLshyt BECAUSE WHO HAS TIME TO GO ON 9 VACATIONS A YEAR:skip:) and how I need to be an entrepreneur and boss my life up. At this point, I'm ready to punch a hole at this whole bullshyt ordeal but this chick was bad as fukk looking like a post-prison Remy and I was willing to take this momentary L for the greater good, but then she had to leave so this bytch nikka from my class had me watch the rest of the video which helped me get back to the matter at hand.

After this 17 minute long video I walk away and he says "So you ready to make this paper and change your life?" And I said "It's a pyramid scheme bruh, thanks for the offer though." As I walk off he says "CONTINUE BEING A EMPLOYEE THEN! IMMA GET THIS BAG OWNING MY OWN BUSINESS WITH OR WITHOUT YOU!" as if paying for a membership and a big ass one-time down payment while making barely any cash if it all equals "getting a bag":skip:

I got his phone number, I can't wait to shyt on this nikka in 6 months

nikka I was ambushed by my own sister with this pyramid bullshyt. I met her for lunch one day and she had a couple of chicks with her that I assumed were her coworker friends. Right after we ordered the food them moafukkas started in on me and one of those chicks actually had the nerve to ask me for my credit card number so that she could charge me with some kind of monthly fee or some dumb shyt like that. I didn't give that moafukka nothing and I told them that that dumb shyt was a fukking pyramid scheme. Those moafukkas, including my own sister had the nerve to get mad at me and they ended up calling me an "employee"or some dumb shyt like that. Needless to say I own my own business and those nikkas were the ones moonlighting off of their regular jobs with the stupid pyramid scheme. That's right. They all had regular full time jobs, but they were doing that stupid pyramid side hustle shyt and going around talking about how they are not employees; so don't even try to figure that shyt out.

All I could do was :beli: to stop myself from reaching across the table to choke out my own sister.

network marketing does not mean pyramid scheme :francis:

a pyramid scheme is where no real products are sold...and the only money is made is by 'recruiting' people....these are illegal

with network marketing....there also 'recruiting'....BUT....a real true product or service is sold :yeshrug:

pretty simple shyt breh

I've survived multiple attempts to sucker me into MLM schemes.

A breh once told me he had the opportunity of a lifetime. I was:lupe: and went with him to this "business meeting"...we end up in the conference room of a hotel with this triumphant music playing....this South Asian dude then gets on stage with a washed up cac and they go into this long pitch about how much guap they're making...by the time they got to the different level memberships I already knew what time it was :rudy:

I was insulted lol. I've been aware of MLMs since the early 2000s and these fukkers still trying to run that game.

Years ago a lady at my mom's church tried to get me into 5linx. She was a nice lady and everything so I figured I'll listen to her proposal. She said her husband has been doing it since 2007 and is doing good for himself and was actually able to quit his job and do 5linx full time. I was like whatever but she did drive a 5 series BMW and she had quit her job and was a house wife because her husband was doing so well.

Long story short after watching the videos and doing my own research on it and declined. She got upset with me and was like enjoy being an employee for the rest of your life! She even unfriended me on Facebook. :mjlol:

They treat that shyt like it's a religion. :gucci:

Swear to God, there’s something about these Herbalife/MLM/Pyramid schemes that have people scrambling like fiends. It really is cult-like.

People you’ve known your whole life talk to you but they sound like Scientologists and all you can do is look at them and think “nikka, I know you. You don’t even know the meaning of half the words you just said to me.”

And all they do is look at you, and their face says  but their eyes are screaming :mjcry:

shyt is hilarious when you don’t give a fukk about the person, but sad/pathetic when you do.

You have to go to meetings, especially black MLM events. It’s like a fukking church. Mofos in there saying Amen and shyt. It’s was one of the most cringeworthy things I’ve seen in my life.

Dude was sayin it’s not a pyramid scheme but in his PowerPoint illustration it pretty much resembles a pyramid. :bryan:

Primerica was a big one a few years ago.

Some of my classmates from high school were on that shyt, posting “be your own boss” messages on Facebook and shyt!

Fast forward to 2017 and those nikkas are still broke and never mention Primerica anymore.

I’m almost tempted to ask them nikkas, “So, how’s business, breh?”

Actually, I got a college friend who goes pretty hard in Primerica. She has both a CPA and a Masters in Real Estate. Worked for both a Big 4 Accounting Firm and top Real Estate Investment Firm. Has mad credentials. And she left all of that to go work for Primerica.

She seems to do well and she's been in it for a number of years. One thing I'll say, the shyt helps improve your sales skills. And she's a seller. If your sales skils are top notch, you can go anywhere and make money.

Thats a legal cover to keep the FTC off their ass. Most of the time the products are not being sold because they are not products that anyone wants. The "distributors" have to end up buying their own product to move it.

These companies are nothing new but are regurgitations of the original Amway back in the 70's who went through numerous lawsuits and was able to perfect their pyramid scheme by fronting with a "product". All of these companies are just copies of the original Amway. Nothing but a new way to take advantage of the mentally weak and economically disadvantaged.
