I still disagree. Yes they enjoy built in advantages, but if tomorrow other groups started behaving dysfunctionally like we do they would fall off too.

They already have though. And the fall off has been epic. And rock bottom is right around the corner.

Only difference and this a big one, aint no "too" about it. No one ever put blk folk on. And no one is impeding them from picking up the pieces before its too late. No one but themselves.

In our community, we celebrate single mothers, because half the folks didn't have a dad growing up...So they think that it's normal. It's normal for ya momma to be "daddy" and mom...It happens to black men and women. We say marriage doesn't mean anything, but other communities don't seem to feel that way. Marriage is down as a whole in this country, but like some of ya'll said, it's proven that marriage helps the children and each other.

I'm not saying get into toxic situations, but just jumping into being a single parent isn't the way either. Marriage helps to build wealth and community. A good marriage isn't perfect, but it's supposed to help the individuals AND the collective. It means, being intentional, honest and real. We've grown so accustomed with our microwave society, everything at our fingertips, no wait, give it now...so materialistic, we've broken marriage down to "what can you do for me?" when it should be a selfless situation. People only care about the superficial and material...It should be..."how can we build this thing TOGETHER?, How can I make YOU better?" SMH we've definitely lost our way...

I get what she trying to say but the issue runs a lot deeper.

A marriage means nothing when society has broke down to the point precious few people take their vows seriously to begin with, and choose their partners either naively, superficially or all of the above.

We gotta do better as a society and its got nothing to do with race. If anything black folk seem to give the most effort despite the deck being stacked egregiously against them from the moment of conception.

At this point even if everyone got married we would just see a huge uptick in toxic marriages and divorce.

The root of our despair needs to be weeded before we can ever grow anything of substance as a society

A lot of women have never seen the influence of marriage so they don’t see the value in it.

Marriage builds strong communities, strong communities build strong nations, strong nations build strong economies and strong economies build strong armies.

Marriage is the nucleus of a functioning society.
