Iā€™m very aware of African history.

Modern Ghana is a product of Rawlings but I suppose you didnā€™t know thatā€¦
Rawlings was allowed to do it because the Brits didn't have anything left to loot in Ghana. The gold was limited. I've said this before, the less you got in terms of natural resources, the easier it is to escape the Brits white supremacy thieves. Sadly, the French counties got it bad no matter what.

Update

The African Union rejected plans for a military solution to the situation in Niger, thus expressing disagreement with the position of ECOWAS - Le Monde According to the publication, during the meeting of the African Union Peace and Security Council on August 14, "it was decided to reject the use of force against the rebels in Niger." As expected, this position will be officially confirmed in a communiquĆ©, which is planned to be published according to Le Monde. ā€œThus, the African Union expresses its disagreement with ECOWAS, which, considering peaceful dialogue as a priority, has alerted its militias,ā€ the newspaper points out.

The UN World Food Program announced difficulties with the supply of food and medicine to Niger ā€œSanctions and border closures are having a significant impact on the supply of vital food and medicine to Niger. WFP is deeply concerned that rising prices will make basic foods even more unaffordable for people in need,ā€ the WFP said in a statement. There is a great way out: leave Niger alone, remove sanctions, and then there will be no need to express concern

Putin discussed the coup in Niger with the leader of Mali The Russian leader stressed the need for a peaceful solution to the crisis in order to ensure a more stable Sahel

The military junta in Niger is now in a better position than the members of the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS), and it seems that international factors will have to recognize the new authorities in Niamey as legitimate, experts told the Washington Post.

German media : The coup in Niger is proof of Europe's wrong policy The coup d'Ć©tat in Niger is proof of the failed policy of France and Europe in that country, notes the German TV channel ZDF, which states that despite the fact that Niger was a French colony for a long time, there is a danger that it will now turn to Russia. " The current coup shows how unequal relations between Niger and France remain. This is an instructive example of the wrong policy of the Europeans ," emphasizes ZDF. When Niger was a colony, Paris discovered huge deposits of uranium in that country. That uranium is still mined for France, and a new contract was signed in May that ensures the mining of that energy source at least until 2040. And while the French tirelessly exploited the valuable ore found in their former colony for decades, Niger suffered the consequences. When "Greenpeace" visited the local cities of Arlit and Akokan back in 2010 , the radiation level on the streets of Akokan was 500 times higher than normal .

Update Part 2

Residents of Niger's capital call for large-scale recruitment of volunteers in anticipation of a potential regional military invasion. As concerns about a possible invasion by neighboring countries grow, the people of Niamey are urging the widespread recruitment of volunteers to support the armed forces in countering the looming threat from ECOWAS. Initiated by a local group in Niamey, this effort aims to mobilize tens of thousands of volunteers from all corners of the country to join the Volunteers for the Defense of Niger initiative. The volunteer force is intended to offer various roles, including combat, medical aid, technical expertise, and logistical support, among others, should the junta require assistance. The recruitment campaign is set to kick off on Saturday in Niamey, extending to areas that might be targeted for invasion, such as regions near the borders with Nigeria and Benin. Eligibility is open to individuals aged 18 and above. While the junta is not directly involved, they are reportedly aware of this grassroots initiative. -Africa Intel

Former Czech diplomat Petr Tuma says the quiet part out loud in the NATO's de-facto think tank Atlantic Council: "Coastal ECOWAS countries understand... if putschists in Niamey arenā€™t put in line, their own political survival is at risk," because "successful examples are appealing." Translation: The anti-colonial military takeover in Niger must fail because if it doesn't, it will send a message to West Africans that self-determination is possible in the region, and they may try to overthrow their Western-backed neocolonial rulers. https://atlanticcouncil.org/blogs/new-atlanticist/experts-react/did-the-niger-coup-just-succeed-and-other-questions-answered-about-whats-next-in-the-sahel/ā€¦
