Brooklyn keeps on taking it.
They retain Bahamian cuisines. Conch, souse, fritters. And they still have decades old events in Miami like "The Goombay".

Isn’t conch worshipped by Miami residents in general?

Haitians, Bahamanians, AAs and Hispanics seem to all boast about it and eat it when I’m there.

I figured the Bahamians being there for a long time pretty much influenced the entire city and multiple ethnic groups.

I understand the Zoe pound which was what i assume lead the way to the "Zoe" movement was necessary in the environment they were in the 90s when young haitians were being jumped by AAs just because they were haitian.

No no no lets dead this myth right here.

Haitians are very insulated and to am extent xenophobic (which to an extent I understand so thats not where the gripe is.)

I can't speak for anywhere else but back in the 80s/90s Haitians were getting clowned like all nikkas do in SoFlo.

The real reason for the AA/Haitians tension in FL is that all that grimey nikkas from Haiti came to Miami and were moving to poor black neighborhoods/projects and were trying to put in work with total disregard for the real nikkas already there and, rightfully so, they got g checked and regulated.

And they been mad ever since.

100% wrong and revisionist history.

Go through the archives of the Miami Herald and read about the physical assaults on Haitians and the discrimination going on by employers and landlords.

Your theory about it all spilling out from street shyt is completely off.

Is this valid? Was this pre Zoe Pound? And did the Haitiam criminals trying to "take over" these projects, influence greater AA resentment against Haitians?

:jbhmm:

Pre ZP, Haitians didn't have an organized or recognizable criminal outfit in Miami. There were individual major players tho, who were Haitian..

You can say "blah... blah.. blah..." all you want but acting like AAs were the only ones targeting Haitians is unrealistic. And going by accents is silly because Bahamians been assimilated in Southern Florida since Jim Crow.... Some of these Bahamians even claim African-American. From what I heard from Bahamians THEMSELVES(especially the Amerianized ones) there were rifts. Southern Fl stopped being a AA stomping ground since the 50s-70s.

Accents is the problem because yall assumed everyone with an American accent was AA. So its hard to say Haitians/Zoe culture in FL was majority influenced by AAs. A good amount was Bahamian.

@IllmaticDelta

alot of south florida blacks that many think are aframs are bahamians/bajan people that have been here for so long, their foreignness isn't obvious. For example many of the surnames from the UOM football team are clearly not afram. These guys sound 100% american but they aren't

Blades is a carib/west indian surname ---> Blades Surname Meaning, Origins & Distribution (barbados, panama, bahamas)

.
.
.

Vilma --->Vilma Surname Meaning, Origins & Distribution (haitian)

.
.

.

Rolle...everyone knows thats a typical bahamian surname but if you anted proof---> Rolle Surname Meaning, Origins & Distribution

going off accents when dealing with the black population of south florida is a no no:russ:

Trick Daddy is not haitian, tho.

I've actually met him once. Homie's hilarious! He and this chick i used to fukk named Trina (not the rapper) grew up in the same neighborhood right next door to each other and their families were close. I met and talked to him one time when we were gonna go out and she wasnt home and asked me to just pick her up from her mom's place. I showed up and he was therewith a couple of brehs and we talked for a minute while homegirl was getting ready. I might have been like 22 or 24 at the most and she was 29.
All i remember was him yelling at her saying "You better go fukk that haitian dikk real good after making that man wait all this time." as she got in the car :russ:

LMAO i love that nikka man!
