Weird everyone is fine with insane coaching salaries but players getting a bunch of money and suddenly it’s a problem :heh:
First and foremost, who is fine with coaching salaries?

Why do people always got to destroy discussions with such nonsense.

Dudes are trying to understand if a player on this level is getting this money, how much will better and more experienced players get and will it be sustainable given the teams budgets. But you’d rather change the subject and talk about something nobody said :snoop:

Financial sustainability and one person being overpaid are completely different issues sir.

Y'all gotta stop going with this pocket watching angle like dude's don't understand the game and how to play it.

No an OL isn't letting his QB get sacked because he's making more money, it's the dumbest take ever

As far as sustainability, schools will adjust based on risk/reward, like the other breh said, the market will adjust. When it backfires they'll do more homework to understand where things went wrong and pay accordingly. Until then, nikkas gonna eat and there ain't nothing wrong with that
It’s not pocket watching. I clearly said in my first sentence that everyone is all for them making money. I’ve been an advocate for this for years. But I am commenting that inducing croots with sometimes faux multimillion dollar deals. If you think locker rooms are just fine with a freshman being a millionaire before he steps on campus while they’re all conference/all americans and aren’t touching that level, then you’re very naive. Look at A&M this year for a classic example.

I don't think it's a problem in the sense of players getting paid. I'm saying it's not sustainable to overpay recruits who you aren't even sure can play, and this type of stuff has flopped way more than it has worked. ESPECIALLY for quarterbacks. Georgia and Bama are targeting specific types of recruits, giving them 2-3mil and calling it a day. VS paying that much for a QB who may not even be good. At a position that's kind of plug-and-play in college football.

The problem you're gonna run into is what's happening at Texas A&M, where the booster and car dealership pocket books start closing due to lack of success. Imagine paying a bunch of money for a college recruit who doesn't end up starting, or can't get playing time, or who just ends up sucking. So you go from the top recruiting class in the country to 13th because the money guys realize they aren't seeing real return on the investment. Next up on that summer jam screen? Miami, who is paying recruits out the ass right now. #4 class as of right now. Salute to the players getting paid, I'm just saying this will end with boosters getting mad and withdrawing cash until they figure out what the top tier schools are doing.

TYRONE GA!
GAINESVILLE, Fla. -- Florida quarterback recruit Jaden Rashada requested a release from his national letter of intent Tuesday night after a $13 million name, imagine and likeness deal fell through, according to multiple reports.

Rashada's future had been in doubt since he failed to enroll at Florida last week, sending signals that something was amiss. He flipped his commitment from Miami to Florida in mid-November and formally signed with the Gators on Dec. 21.

But his arrival in Gainesville was contingent on a four-year, $13 million NIL deal he signed with the Gator Collective, a person familiar with the situation told The Associated Press on condition of anonymity. The Gator Collective is an independent fundraising arm that disburses money to student-athletes in all sports. The financial backing fell through, however -- the Gator Collective terminated the binding agreement -- and left Florida coach Billy Napier to scramble to try to get Rashada to campus.

Sasse needs to clean house by the end of the year. Fire that racist protecting Stricklin and get the Sunbelt Sling Blade off the sideline.

We’re all for players making money, but this is absolutely not a sustainable model moving forward. Rashada is a project based on his physical abilities that might take 2 years before he sees the field for a respectable program. And HE’S getting 13 milli before stepping on the college field? So what would the 3rd year WR who was all conference last year think about some 17 year old walking in with that money without playing a down? He’s gonna want something similar or he’s hitting the portal. And how do you keep up with this for the next cycle of recruits?

market is the market.

this is capitalism.

you're worth what someone is willing to pay :yeshrug:

UF is far from broke. I’m all for players getting paid but no one player is worth that much money. Florida is rebuilding and can’t put all their eggs into the basket of one player who hasn’t played a single down yet. It’s obvious this dude wants to go to the highest bidder instead of buying in with one school and coach. It’s 2023 and that’s how things work now but as a Gator fan I feel like he never wanted to come here anyway.

College football and the NCAA had years to get ahead of the NIL question and implement a system; They chose not to.

Because a school chose to give a 4 star 13 mil doesn't mean there's a problem with Nil it means there's a problem with the school and booster collective.

I think you just explained why they ain't paying him.

Plus, I think one of their boosters put some shady wording in the contract so he would get paid to. (How is that not considered an agent?)

Yea we will see how it pans out with that. One encouraging thing is that none of the players Napier brought in via portal or HS for 2022 transferred out after last season. Shows some buy in. I like our 2023 class but he’s gonna have to knock it out the park with his 2024 class or things WILL get spooky
