Yeah there were moments that got to me but mostly I was just stuck on how it went from level 5 to level 10 out of nowhere :russ:

That was sort of my problem with it.

If you gonna show a movie about an evil superman everything is based on environment and influence and this kid apart from being pushed in gym class once wasnt that driven to do that much damage and kinda makes it an unconvincing turn for me

That’s what I expected. But obviously that’s not what they went for entirely

He wasn’t an evil superman and their wasn’t much influence needed for his backstory

He was sent there to dominate and destroy the earth... thats all the motivation he needed

I will suggest that there maybe more as a backstory as to WHY
and who sent him there.
but thats it.

Other than that its just a crazy movie about a psycho child with superman-like powers and how he would be in real life on earth... and thats dope af concept

People who get in their feelings cause someone else made a movie are always hilarious to me. :lolbron:

DC stans :mjlol:

evil, and, imo, a more realistic take on supes, since i very much doubt a being with so much power would be on some kumbaya shyt. i'm gonna watch it

:ehh:

I read the first book in some series where there's some weird event and random people across the world end up with superpowers (like Heroes or X-Men). Basically society collapses into a warlord situation, where each major city is controlled by the most powerful augmented human in the area and the less powerful ones act as his lackeys, dominating the regular humans. It's debatable whether there is a single benevolent augmented human in existence.

I thought that was a way more realistic version of how people deal with power.

School shooter with superman powers
:merchant:

That's a perfect comparison.

Movie was good, I actually think the fact that the characters weren’t fleshed out more was a good idea, this is a Halloween with superpowers, not evil Man of Steel.

I just got back from watching this not too long ago and I have to say I was really underwhelmed. This movie suffers from an identity crisis. Does it want to be a horror movie or a fresh take on the superhero genre? It had a really great premise but dropped the ball. The trailer was damn near the whole movie :dead:

At certain points of the film I already knew what was going to happen including the ending :francis:

I think part of the reason why this movie is getting such "meh" reviews is because of the way it was promoted. It borrowed heavily from the Superman motif and a lot of people were describing it as "evil Superman" and the movie you saw doesn't really fit that. There's potential here though. Maybe in a possible sequel they'll find a tighter narrative and flesh out the story more too. Overall 6/10 for me though :yeshrug:
