'So I guess Triple H booked TakeOver Dallas by himself, huh? He handpicked and trained Sami and the BomaJapanese guy and Jordan and the other guy, the Kurt Angle kid, by himself, huh? He did all that while sticking needles in his buttocks and being all up in the video every goddamn Raw cutting the same promo from 2000 with that dumb, spoiled wife of his so he could main event Wrestlemania in 2016. The same guy that screwed over Booker T so he could be the champion who would face Goldberg of all people, a man who is known for ending careers, and you think he's a genius? No wonder you can't even spell that Flint Balter's guy name I think it is right because you are dumb as hell.'

Exactly. Things went dark for the industry during his injury. Seth and Roman haven't been good replacements.
I know you never will but you have to include Punk. Industry has been down since Punk and Bryan stopped wrestling full time

No. Punk was like Cena. He won all the time and got put over by multiple names. He was easy street for the end of 2011 and all of 2012. Bryan was breaking his neck earning respect during that timeframe and buried to put over Sheamus of all people at the "People's WM" and it all backfired. He got bigger and bigger...eventually getting cheered over Punk himself by Over the Limit 2012. And even then...they didn't give him his PROPER single's push until the summer of 2013.

It's sensible to push those there all year but there is no guarantee they will move the needle.
We went from this

To the charade of WM 32.

Thing is, Bryan didn't really move the needle, either. As popular as he was to live crowds, and as much as the YES chant caught on in mainstream sports, ratings and buyrates didn't move with him. And when you look at PPV buyrates and ratings, Punk didn't move the needle much either.

Every PPV headlined by Bryan did the same or fewer buys as the year before. The same with Punk. The only PPV buyrate that improved with Punk was MITB right after the pipebomb. Being over to live crowds or even selling a ton of merch is not a true indicator of being a draw in the literal sense, as in getting people to come to/watch the shows more than if you weren't there.

Bryan's retirement speech popped a bigger rating than anything he had been involved with as a wrestler, which is weird, but that's just how it goes sometimes.

Bryan's segments got higher ratings than Cena, Punk, the Shield, Authority. Every single week. No matter where you put him on the show. He was changing everything....he had sell outs and his house show numbers were not that far behind Cena's. His merchandise became #2 in the company. He was much bigger than what you saw him as.

Why do you think Cena got pushed behind him even when he had the title and was injured. And let's not forget the hilarious panic of the company at Rumble 2014 when Cena vs Blandy got We Want Divas chants and they had to kick off Raw with Daniel Bryan to save face.

No they didn't. Go look at the data. As a TV/PPV draw, Bryan didn't move the needle, and in fact did LESS. This is not me shytting on Bryan or anything. It's just the way shyt worked out. You would have thought he would have been actually drawing since he was so wildly popular, but for whatever reason, that's not always an indicator of drawing ability in modern wrestling.

Punk had legitimate mainstream crossover and popularity and also didn't move the needle, even though he sold a ton of merch.

Nah, Punk got that same treatment Ambrose did.

He had to lay down for HHH, Taker, Lesnar, & Rock. Imagine how strong of a champ he would've been had he beat them :snoop:

Love Bret but hes a mad man. Need to get his names right at least, shyt. Also, far as NXT, its one of the best things that HHH is involved in. Bret gotta chill.

I think Punk not actually main eventing some of the PPVs as champ is what made him look weak. That and the thin roster he was up against year round. Once he became heel it was even worse because he became a coward champ.

Dont think he needed to get wins over those guys to look strong.

He started off pretty over and big. I do think he should have beaten HHH since he was red hot at that time.
