I was on the SF side of things in the SF vs MK debates at the time but when tekken 3 dropped, it was revolutionary. No one wanted to play anything else. On my retropie arcade machine in the mancave. I do run through this from time to time. This is the arcade version.

Fighting games were extremely popular in the 90's. Probably more so than any other point in history. Real fights would break out in arcades, over fighting games.

Fred.

Ultimate mortal kombat 3 arcade cabinets literally had lines of people standing in queue line like it was a siz flags line. What a time to be alive.

we immediately threw 2D fighters in the bushes and they would never really make a return until SF4 dropped in 08
this...i honestly believe the greatness of Tekken 3 hurt the success of Street Fighter 3.

Its noteworthy to mention the success of the home port. It was an absolutely mandatory game to own, and the features they added were all great. Force mode was fun asf, and I remember playing BALL MODE, that volley ball mode a lot even. And as far as a quality fighter, I think its balance is not appreciated enough. You could win with anyone.

It was one of the best games in the entire 32bit era.

People had drifted away from Street Fighter by the late 90s yea but also Street Fighter 3 games, which started coming out in 96, weren't even available in the US until 99 with the Dreamcast releases of SF3:New Generation/2nd Impact bundle and 3rd Strike

There were no US arcade releases for SF3 unless you lived in NY or Cali, and Capcom was in the beginning stages of killing off the Street Fighter franchise for good :francis:

Basically it was Children of The atom, with some Street Fighter Alpha characters
Nah the gane where xmen are against street fighter characters.

Bet. I...I don't think I've ever played X-Men vs Street Fighter to any decent length till today. If I did, it was sparingly. Fun game of course.

I couldn't let this opportunity down memory lane pass without some comfort gaming too.
