I don’t think it’s too late, Tekken 3-5 I played every day for years and most of the stuff I can remember barely translates into the newer ones when I do get the time to pick up and play

The King ankle cheese is still there when I don’t know what I’m doing

What am I supposed to be labbing as a complete beginner? What character should i even play? I tried labbing some dragunuv combos but I can’t even get these joints off

You need to learn how to punish. The people you're going against, if they ain't smurfs, are throwing out unsafe moves. It's like a person throwing wild haymakers, you dodge, then throw your uppercut to punish. Post some videos and we can give advice.

It's a very good idea to go to your replay mode, the replay mode will show you exactly what to do to punish the people you fight.

I started at Tekken 5, but before 7, there was no replay mode. After practice it was straight into the fire. :russ::sadcam:

Tekken 8 is by far the easiest for newcomers.

from the home of coca-cola, i'm not referring to s
It’s the perfect time. T8 was designed for new players and scrubs. Every aspect of the game caters to easy execution YOLO style of play and punishes opponents for blocking.. Easy rank up system. Brain dead easy characters. They even allow you to use a leverless arcade stick to program directional notation into the buttons making movement seamless. The type of movement it takes years to master. Once you get a good understanding of the mechanics you can compete and hang with players that’s mastered the game for decades

It's the perfect time honestly, we got Season 2 coming up in about a week along with rank demotions.

I'm pretty bad at it but I still manage to mostly break even when I go online

It helps to do some light research on your character so you can be ready for some of the cheaper strats you see online (I'm looking at you, King mains)

Taking an hour or so to learn Reina elevated my skillset so much

Downloaded Tekken 8 a few weeks ago—my first Tekken ever. Now, I’ve been deep into 2D fighters my whole life—Street Fighter, MVC, Guilty Gear, you name it. I dabbled in Soul Calibur back on the Dreamcast, but 3D fighters never really grabbed me.

Man… the moment I took this game online, I started getting cooked. Haven’t won a single match yet. Maybe I just suck, but damn—one launcher near a wall, and it’s over. And look, I’m no genius, but I do know how to block in fighting games. Yet somehow, I’m sitting there blocking and still getting my guard broken? What am I even supposed to do about that?

I think my Tekken journey might already be over, but someone convince me otherwise. :francis:
Just go to training, train with your faves and watch YT tutorials. I’m doing the same with DOA2-5. With sports and fighting games you have to train like an athlete.
