Oh I totally agree, don't get me wrong, there are plenty of people established in the area, and there's quite a bit of old money in this area too. My anecdotal comes from what I've seen in areas like Loudoun and parts of Fairfax. I work in insurance, and there are people with 5,000 square foot homes that can't even tell me their monthly budget or have anything in a windfall account.

OK. I sold my townhome when the bubble was almost at its peak and I made stacks on stacks.

The buyer was a single mother, nurse, with a one child. I'm thinking, where is she getting the money unless she's maxing out on the loan. That was years ago. Found out years later that the home was foreclosed by her lender.

This is actually a good question, comes to humanity. Some lower class blacks who chart middle class money or somewhat close to middle class money leave cities for suburbs, some do it because they think that is the American Dream some do it because they think living near "whites" will somehow adjust their status...it's like a mental thing.....I agree that we should remain in cities that are currently becoming gentrified and rebuild these areas......

instead of working to fix broken areas...some Black Americans would rather move out...it's almost like it's not built in them to stay and rebuild....again this is not exclusive to Blacks but this is a issue that needs addressing

bruh; understand that it's classes to shyt shyt...upper/middle/lower....just because you do not see blacks spending within their own community...does not mean that it's not happening.....

If bougie blacks are spending within their own community...but nobody sees it or the effects of said spending...did it really happen?

As a black businessman, i can only speak from my experience. Bougie blacks support black arts, black salons, and black bars / restaurants. Outside of that, they seem to make it a point to buy products and services from whites. Jewish lawyer, indian doctor, asian dry cleaner, spanish maid etc. And pay top dollar. When it comes to me, they want a deal / the hookup, dont pay on time, etc and expect me to understand like
"hey brother you know how it is as a fellow black man"

Well, not everyone spends all they have. Some do and they are going to go bankrupt. Are there fools out there with their money. Yes. But there are also wise one.

Increasing one's debt with increased income is not just a black thing. It's a white thing too, but it's just defined as "trying to move up".

White professionals doing more for the poor blacks than black professionals? I going to need some documentation on that.

They all dress in expensive clothes, drive european cars, live in big houses, yet most have negative net worth. For all the talk of high-income blacks in the DMV, hardly any are building wealth or investing in businesses. Most live check to check, they just have a bigger check. I have met so many girls making 100k+ but never have more than a couple thousand in the bank, and thats only on payday.
