How’s that flight :lupe:

I wanna go to Japan but those 16 hours in a plane scare me
Flight is long.
:francis:
I’m short gang so it doesn’t bother me as much as somebody 5’10 or taller.
You get to catch up on movies. Drinks are free. Internet is free so you can WhatsApp whoever you want.
:ehh:
I’ve flown from Atlanta to Korea to Okinawa. That’s my longest flight. Atlanta to Dubai is a long one as well. Overall, if you’re tall it’s worth getting the leg room.
:manny:
I miss business class. We got a new 5 year contract so I’m hoping they throw it back in for us. Them 180 seats make a difference.
:wow:

Flown to Japan on ANA a couple times, 10-11 hours from LA. It's a pretty easy flight, you get a ton of movie and TV options from the airline if you don't want to bring your own entertainment. I watched an entire season of True Detective my first time and the flight flew by. You get like 2 meals and steady snacks. And the flight attendants are lot nicer and more accommodating than most other airlines.

I always experience some turbulence when I fly over the Pacific. Maybe pack some anti-nausea meds if that kind of thing affects you.

If you're booking far enough in advance, grab a full flat seat on a budget carrier like ZipAir. You're basically in your own little space for the entire flight and the cost is half what other airlines charge for business class seats.

The rest of the flight is barebones, but you'll have a comfortable seat.

I'll be completely honest though, if your budget allows it, grab a business class seat on EVA, Starlux, or similar.

On a different note, I just read a Reddit thread last week about seat recliner etiquette.
:skip:
I didn’t know there was such a thing.
:mjlol:
I guess I’m the a$$hole because I stay with my seat reclined.
:russ:
I’ll pull it back up for meals but if it’s a feature, you would think you should be able to use it.

Been thru Narita 2 times and Haneda airport once (round trip), one time thru Taipei. Always coach. On the flights themselves never had turbulence. I don’t sleep either. I usually drink thru the flight (as much as possible) and listen to music or watch in flight movies. Not too bad considering the time. Flew Japan Airlines and China airlines and liked the friendlier service and food better, but had good experience on United as well. About ever time I went thru narita there is a long layover, I try not to buy any crap or eat in them, so plan accordingly. I don’t really smoke like that now, but all Asian airports I been thru have smoking rooms, some dispense beer in vending machines. Occasionally I’d fly with a can of tobacco. Also, don’t forget the 311 liquids rule

Don't skimp on travel if you can help it.

An underrated aspect here is the lounges you have access to (though, may already have access through a travel card). I would just not be cheap, plan ahead, save up a bit more, and go for the business class experience.

Similar, if you're going to use the train, try and book seats ahead for the first class carriage. If a Shinkansen has GranClass, it is worth it to grab a seat there.

Stay out of the areas with regular people as much as possible.

Fly first class if you can

Bro, I remember stepping out of a lounge before one of my flights, I couldn't believe what I was seeing out there. Kids running around screaming, all kinds of weird characters, almost suffocated out there. Lord of the flies.

Not sure how people do it.

Not .much to do. Listen to music. Read a book. Sleep. Use the bathroom on the plane because the bathrooms in Narita airport are weird.

As a breh that flew in to Seattle from Seoul last month, PLEASE!!!!! PLEASE!!!!! UPGRADE TO FIRST CLASS!!!!

I had some bad ass Filipino toddler that was kicking me for the entire duration of that 10-hour flight while his grandparents ignored him:francis:. I couldn't even sleep:francis:.

First class was sitting pretty with reclining chairs, plenty of leg room, plenty of lean-back-space, etc.

When I fly to Japan, I'm definitely upgrading my boarding and seating position, fúck that. I'd rather go down in the cold ass ocean than sit in coach on that 12-hour flight to Narita:francis:
