This is my thinking, but as a result, I tend to prefer linear scents.
Oh yeah man, linear scents are clutch especially if they have good projection and scent trails. But I also can appreciate those dynamic fragrances that transition and a lot of times are also very weather sensitive depending on the time of year you wear it you might get a whole different fragrance then you would gotten in another season.
I can't think of anything that has a banger opening and then into a great dry down.
Hindu Kush by Mancera is what comes to mind for me personally. I think the opening is banging then the dry down when that incense smokiness comes to play a bit is just awesome.

Mid and dry down is more important to me. But the average joe, will aways go by the top notes. Sotd Pure Tonka

Would ya'll prefer a fragrance that had a great opening but average dry down or a fragrance that had a average opening and a great dry down?

I think I'm the former out of the two. Of course we all want a well rounded fragrance that's great the entire duration but just curious to anyone else thoughts on that.

On another note I tried PDM Haltane and I'm not a big fan. The opening smells like pencil shavings but the dry down was nice. The dry down reminded me of BR540. I think it's the Saffron, and Cedar combination that I'm picking up on. Not a bad scent at all but I'm not all that impressed with Haltane.

I want to enjoy all phases fr. That's been even more highlighted by getting a chance to make my own candles over the years. I don't be mixing the oils to just get a 🔥 Top, or a 🔥 base. I need all of them mfs to be hittin' like they're supposed to when that wick is burning fa 4-6 hours a day. But that's the beauty of a good blend, and trial and error cuz of course that won't always be the case.

Yeah of course Trav like mentioned before we all want a well rounded fragrance but I was just curious to what others thought if given the choice between the opening and dry down. Out of the two I lean towards good openings but ideally something well rounded would be perfect.

Scented candles are dope too. I feel like they are slept on in general.

If you holdin' a 🔫 to my head & I gotta choose, depending on how long it last, I'm rockin' wit the opening. Just b/c a lot of times that's where the more 'exotic' kind of fun happens for a lot of fragrances. The dry down in most are pretty standard in tryna ground you on the earthy and/or creamy tip wit sum type of wood and/or vanilla---mayne a few added things to differentiate. It works, but it ain't always as fun as the bangers in the open (for me).

Oh yeah fam. My thoughts exactly the openings to me are more interesting. But yeah man nothing can beat a complete fragrance though that's one thing we all would agree on. A fragrance that has it all and does it for you will always be liked more than one were you like mainly the opening/drydown.

Dont get me wrong as far as purchasing a frag the top notes are the seller. But we all know majority what people will actually smell are the mid and base. That is why if possible is to get your hand on a tester or sample and see how a scent progresses on your skin.

Random question brehs … has anyone tried that new Hugo Boss Elixir?
What's funny is every few months I hear about some Hugo Boss fragrance that's supposed to be good.

But it's either impossible to find or discontinued.

The 2 or 3 I've come across at the mall have been meh. So there's a part of me that really wants to see what the hype is about with these other scents.
