You the homie, but I distinctively remember you saying that he was going to prove all the doubters wrong this season. That's not looking likely at this stage, my friend.

:unimpressed:
Wiseman had a acceptable rookie season statistically compared to other bigs that went on to have great careers. Yes I know points per game doesn’t account for impact, I’m just saying.. Jordan Poole was arguably the worst player in the league his rookie season, he didn’t start showing flashes until the 2nd half of last season, leading up to this preseason. I know you’re going to call that an anomaly and you’re probably right but I have faith in Wisemans work ethic in combination with his talent :yeshrug:

I'm going to reserve my judgement till I see him play this season. The team is better and his role will be simpler and more defined. I'm hoping to see better defensive awareness and Wiseman rolling to the rim a lot

I just rewatched some of his highlights and it's obvious why they picked him (athletic big man, position of need). And I understood exactly what @Gil Scott-Heroin was saying, but the reality was there wasn't any real interest in a trade that made sense.

He's going to be fine this year. Like the bolded, he's going to come off the bench until he earns a starting position. We're leaning all the way into smallball sohh he's gonna have to give Kerr a reason to reconsider.

But when Klay comes back and gets settled; Poole and Wiseman together could be really nice..

If the Warriors can develop Poole, they can develop Moody and Kuminga.

Poole, Wiseman, and a 2025 1st for Ben Simmons.

Nick would be 100% right.

This is the problem when folks get enamored with size and athletic ability (never mind the fact he's not even that athletic), they are quick to brush aside the most important aspects of the game. Being big and athletic doesn't make you smart. Besides his stone hands, his lack of lateral quickness, and the glaring absence of basketball skill, the worst part of his play, and the part that can rarely ever be fixed, is his BBIQ. He didn't even know how to screen properly last season. Even a big oaf like Noel came into the league and knew the basics of screening.

So while he most certainly can improve his shooting and specific skills that will allow him to be at least productive, it's not going to matter in the grand scheme of things when his BBIQ isn't going to improve in equal measure.

I mentioned this a while back:

I wanted to trade the pick for a Vet. :francis:
He's the one you trade for Simmons
And play Simmons at Center

He needs to follow Javale McGee path
He'd be a huge boon for the Warriors if he becomes anything close to that this season

Deni for the Warriors > Wiseman for the Warriors.

And like I said at the time, it wasn't Deni who I was specifically advocating for, Deni was merely the type of player I wanted them to get. He was a representation of the type of player that fit with their identity, whether that be in the draft or through a trade for an already established player. If Deni was on the Warriors last season, he would've been looked at as a success. The Warriors could've easily traded down to grab him and another player in the draft too, so it wouldn't have even been just Deni. They could've got him and Haliburton.

He didn't have any opportunity to do anything on the Wizards last season, because Westbrook and Beal were too busy fighting over the ball.
You keep saying this but it's not true.

They could've packaged the pick with other assets. Incentivize. You haggle until you find a suitor.

The irony is, that pick [Wiseman] has no value now. Nobody wants a big man that doesn't know how to be a big man. Just like they dropped the ball with Paschall when they should've traded him coming off his rookie season.

Let me ask you one thing:

If you had knowledge prior to the draft, that he would end up being one of the Warriors' worst players in his rookie season (completely lost on both ends of the floor), where he'd be the first player over the last half a decade to have a net-negative with Steph on the floor; his second season starting off in the G-league, where the Warriors rebuild him, teaching him basic footwork and moves of a big man; his third season was when the Warriors hoped he'd make notable progression.

Would you still want the Warriors to draft him if you knew this prior?

Looks like Klay might return before even he does.

Big men take longer to develop. Plus the league just doesn't wait for prospects anymore. You better be able to produce within a year or two if you're a high pick, otherwise you'll be shipped out to become a 15th man somewhere else (see Jarrett Culver, Dennis Smith Jr, Sekou Doumbouya, etc).

yup he's pretty much going to be mo bamba'd
