What happens if I get sick or our daughter needs some type of expensive medical procedure that insurance covers at 80% (meaning the other 20% is on us)? What happens if he is injured on the job and forced to take a leave of absence that is paid only up to a certain period short of what he needs to get well??

$15 an hour isn't going to help with the above^^^

Try putting three people on medical insurance at a $15 an hour job.

Everything in life is NOT 50/50. Our income is not 50/50. I make good money....he makes better money (as is the case with MOST men/women relationships).

Because of his income and his personal sense of duty as a man...my husband often takes it upon himself to pay all the bills. That's just the kind of man that he is....and that's the kind of man I sought and married.

And no, all of my money is NOT going into my pocket. I am actively pursuing my dream of opening a business. That takes money. It is taking my money, which goes back into our household at some point. Child care (which is expensive as hell), grocery shopping, general household shopping etc....I take care of that. Also, my husband, like most men I've met doesn't like shopping....so, I'm likely doing it for him too.

It's on these "young black men" to pull themselves up....I just don't think it's right for them to expect black women to stick by their sides and offer all the benefits of marriage without marriage. The only women obligated to stick by a broke ass man is his wife and his mama (and even that has an expiration date in most cases).
