I personally think the truth is in the middle. Never been easier to find people into whatever wierd shyt you like and we have a big ass country with many cities, towns, climates (you can be a surfer or a mountain hiker or live in the desert)
at the same time finances are whooping a lot of folks asses. Of course everyone on the Coli not only makes six figures but we all got flexible work from home jobs that allow for a perfect work/life balance
Some folks are getting more shallow/soulless and mainstream American culture feels goofy and empty but it's up to you to find like-minded people. Everyone in a nation of 330 million people can't be trash stupid a$$holes. I can ask a few questions when I meet someone and get an idea of where their head and heart is at.
